LPE Fuel Pump - Is it really necessary?

Getting back to the original question. I had a AA system installed & elected to put in a new LPE fuel pump instead of a BAP. Reason:
1. My car is a 99 with 40K on it. The original pump is 12+ years old.
2. It is easier to install it now while my tuner had it in the air.
3. Satisfaction that I wont have to worry about fuel pressure falling off under boost.
BTW after my system was completed, my fuel pressure kept falling off under higher rpm & under boost. It dropped from 60+ psi to 45 or so. Well my tuner asked me if I ever changed fuel filters & long story short, after a new filter, the car stays at 60+ psi steady thru the curve. Thanks Mike Norris for solving a rather simple problem.

Ive never changed my filter either, but I only use "top tier" gasoline
I might as well change it while I have the car jacked up. I imagine the stealership wants $500 for that (they want $780 or the fuel pump). Where is the best place to get the filter from?
