I am new to nitrous and dont have much experience - BUT - I have read a lot and have several friends using it + myself now and it appears that nitrous is only as dangerous as the person using +/_ his saftey equipment he is using with it..
I would suggest that you read as much as you can about it and learn what not to do when using it.. if you are safe - then it appears to be one of the funnest things you can add to your car.. :D
I'm going on 3yrs with 100 dry shot....
The only safety piece I have is a two silenoids in line, in case on fails.
Just be smart about and don't try to get a little bit more of it and you'll be fine. In case your wonder, I had no idea how many bottles I've gone through but I'm a regular at the local speed shop to get bottle fills.
It's only as safe as the owner is knowledgable. If you don't know anything about it I would spend $20 on the HP Books publication on nitrous. After reading that book cover to cover you can then decide how you want to approach a system for your car.
When you finish the nitrous installation I consider a chassis dyno w/ wideband O2 sensor a mandetory check to ensure adequate fuel enrichment. Trail and error is dangerous with nitrous.

Yes, I agree, don't be silly, dyno tune the car after the install! :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:
I recommed this:
Put an On/Off switch in the car,
Then an MSD box with On/Off RPM pills,
Then a Wide Open Throttle (WOT) switch,
Then a fuel pressure switch.
For Nitrous to flow:
The switch must be on
AND
The RPM's must be above 3000 but below 6000 (all selectable by you),
AND
The throttle must be wide open,
AND
The fuel pressure must be above XX pounds(selectable by you). If any one of these conditions is not present my nitrous will not flow.
I have not had any problems with mine with this setup.
A bottle heater and blanket are also a must in my opinion (for consistent runs ) as well as an outside vented blow off tube (safety).
