Default My first experience with Nitrous!

Just wanted to give you a quick update on my first experience using the hose! I picked up a CCW Drag pack as I am hoping to focus a little more on drag racing as of recent. Anyways, flash forward to last week and Milan runs this event once a month called No ET. Bunch of grudge racers come and run for some cash, etc. Anyways I went as a bunch of my friends were going to be there and they are very lax on rules. I wanted to go a bit faster for this event so I called up my pals at NX on Monday. My kit showed up Friday at lunch. Toss it on Friday night after work. Wired it Saturday after work. Tossed it on the dyno to see where it was NA, timing, etc. Made 405/371 NA. Pulled out 2 degrees down low and made a hit on a 100 shot and it did 495/492. Big thanks to Dan Millen at Livernois Motorsports for putting my car on the dyno and making sure everything was good to go for the spray! Unstrapped it and drove straight to Milan. First launch I bogged to a 1.98, 11.4 @ 127. Second pass blew the tires off, 2.3, 11.9 @ 128. Next 3 passes were better, 1.6, 11.0 @ 128... all 3 of them! lol. So close! Anyways, no heater so my bottle PSI was only 700. Car was a touch rich so now I took out the 33 fuel jet and put in a 31. That and proper bottle pressure should get me into the 10's. Just need a stinkin roll bar now!

Here is a quick in car vid. First pass was an 11.0. Second pass was were I blew the tires off. I also stayed in it well past the 1/4 mile mark! lol

So I am now a bottle baby and love it! On the dyno it showed a bit rich on the spray. I had a 33 jet in for the fuel so I swapped that out the other night for a 31. Also battling the low bottle pressure I called my friends at NX back up and picked up an automatic heater so next time out I won't have that issue!

With the slightly smaller fuel jet, proper bottle pressure, and maybe a bit more out of the launch I think it should go 10.80s

Big thanks to Mike and the guys at Nitrous Express for the great kit
and
Dan at Livernois for the Dyno use and tuning assistance to make sure everything was safe with the car

That's awesome, and being hooked up with Dan Millen is also a big plus.

You stated that the bottle pressure was low and you are running a touch rich, these go hand in hand, so a little more bottle pressure will lean it out.

Well bottle pressure on the dyno was 900-950 and read a little rich. At the track it was only 700 ish.

NX 10 bottle with the new lightning opener, NX Automatic bottle heater via psi in the rear center compartment. Lid goes on over top to it stays concealed!

2 switches, one for arming the system, other to turn on the bottle heater

Nice runs Jon, 10s are in your future for sure, should be easily achieved with a little cooler air and a little warmer bottle. Are you going to the next NO ET on the 5th.

I have a wedding to go to on the 5th so I will not. I might try to make it out there one of these last Sat/Sun TnT's they have though!

Very nice runs indeed...but I got to ask cause nobody else has..what happened on that last run? I see GREEN GREEN...the other car took off like a canon (don't know what it was) but your sitting there on the line for a good second before you go?

Reaction time has ZERO effect on the time. All my times begin once my car leaves so I can sits there however long I want, so I don't see any point in needing to be fast off the light just for a personal run. At the start of the day a Trans am left and broke something sending it hard left into the other lane taking out a Monte Carlo and putting it into the wall.... no way in hell I was going to let anything like that happen to me. Reaction times were pointless to me and I was purposely sitting there letting the other cars leave all night on every one of my runs to prevent any of the incidents I saw earlier in the day!
