Is it because engine builders tend to go with rather high compression which indirectly means quite small ignition advance at WOT?

It can't be just because of F/I, since LS9 can live with boost, as well as so many other engines with turbos.
When you change the AFR like you do in blower setups you lower it (richen). That is bad for cats.

It depends on what the ECU is using for stoich AFR for PE and you have to factor in stock OEM cats vs. high-flow aftermarket ones.

"Any condition that causes abnormally high levels of unburned hydrocarbons — raw or partially burnt fuel — to reach the converter will tend to significantly elevate its temperature, bringing the risk of a meltdown of the substrate and resultant catalytic deactivation and severe exhaust restriction."

Stoich will still be 14.6:1 but you will have a boost enrichment table that will divide that amount by a certain number and command a different AFR. The table shown above appears to be like a 10.50:1 commanded AFR in the higher RPM's. The table shown above is referencing a Power Enrichment table though. A 2 bar tune will normally use a Boost enrichment table to command AFR under boost conditions.

(Just kidding...) But why would ZR1 need a 2 bar tune? (Just kidding...)

Anyway, it seems that rich condition on ZR1 is pretty similar compared to what you get with any aftermarket supercharger or turbo kit.

Some say (one particular Chris) that do not trust BE with C5. Dunno with C6 though.

I dont use BE or PE on my C5 2 bar tune, just the MAP table.

Factory cats are a very expensive ceramic material, when they blow they don't plug up the system-the come apart like sand.

The Metal Matrix style cats-which are not used by the factory-end up plugging the system as they start to roll over.

Well, I am not sure how much to credit the cats for, but it is making great power now on a very conservative tune. I made another thread about it.
