Default Engine options for better low end torque?

Fellow Horsepower addicts,

I was hoping you can help me with the possible options. I've got an LS6 with Vortech V2 and mild blower cam. The high end torque is insane and I love it. The low end is good but doesn't match the high end performance... I suspect a few will chime in and say I should have got a roots style FI setup, but my tranny is going to be rebuilt soon (a forced repair because my sychronizers are going out) and the plan is to re-build it for a more powerful motor... I want to go that route.

I'm not all that savvy on the motors available and benefits. (and yes, I did try searching). Could any one chime in and offer some possible options? Thanks

Put in a forged 383ci or AES 390ci and max out the blower...If you keep the CR around 10.0:1 you'll also have it nice low end torque...The extra cubes should give you some nice low end torque but keeping it under 400 cubes bc you'll start losing some efficiency from the smaller blower on the top end.

I had a 383 and the thing was a beast and very snappy with only 8#'s at redline ( but I wasn't maxing out the s v-1)

Just my $.02

Love my 402... I only have 9:1 compression, but the 3.90 gears makes it even better. This thing has more power throughout the entire powerband where as my LS1 was weak until 3500+...

Simple answer is a bigger engine, or PD blower.

More torque doesnt always make you go faster though, although it can make driving a little nicer

with the 390 or 403 as well as the compression recommendation, but I don't understand where you're coming from on the efficiency comment. The blower may not be able to keep up on top due to airflow limitations, but the efficiency isn't going to suffer. If you made 650RWHP with a blower on a 383, you may not make much more power up top (if any), but you're certainly not going to make less with all other things being equal.
OP, smaller cams will build cylinder pressure earlier in the power band, but at the expense of some top end power.

Maybe I'm missing something. I can se how boost will increase, but How will a restrictor plate help power by limiting airflow?

you would run a smaller pulley that would make aroung 15 psi boost then install a restricter plate like ECS sells and it would restrict the boost back to 10 psi but it will make boost faster down low its just a big washer that goes before the blower

And it will make zero difference to low rpm, low throttle torque.
