Default Head gasket help

I've got a 6.0 iron block with 4.030 bore and 1/2" studs. What GM mls gaskets can i use? I have a set of gm part number 12610046 and they do not clear these studs. i have to thread each stud through the gasket and then hammer them through to the threaded portion (of the block) then go about tightening the studs. I was told this is normal, but it damn sure doesnt seem right.

I've been told by several sources that GM LS9 gaskets will clear 1/2" head studs without issue.

Mmmmm, I donno. I've never done it but I've heard that they need machining and it's hard to machine the gaskets without ruining them.

I'm not trying to argue because I have no real experience with the 1/2" studs, but I did look into it.

Hmmm, pretty neat. Yet another reason to run LS9 gaskets.

I realize that a ton of crap on the interwebz is complete crap, but I think I remember the info being backed up in a GMHTP build article.

Yea I think my info came from pre-LS9 days. That YB thread seems pretty clear.

Make sure when you get them that the part number on the gaskets are the same as the bag. There have been recent instances with incorrectly packaged gaskets. Ask me how I know...
