Unless you get a dimp that didnt know what he was doing and run your car in over drive. He ran it up to 200 MPH I had to replace both couplers in the car and also the convter. Robert
I have an auto and it was dynoed in 2nd on a Mustang Dyno. I was told that is was unsafe to run it in 3rd with my 2.73 rear. My numbers were lower than I expected. I asked about it on here and got various opinions. I googled and it seems to be a common practice to run in 2nd under some circumstances. I also found some posts about damage from going in 3rd, with high rear gear.
I was told my car would dyno quite a bit higher if it was a 6sp with a 3.42.
So Im curious, what would a "good" operator do to run my A4 2.73 in third gear safely? Why wouldnt an inferior operator be able to do it?
Thanks
From what my tuner has told me its knowing how to calibrate your equipment. He prefers closest to 1 to 1 as possible but says not all cars have a 1 to 1. I think sti's need to be dynoed in 3rd. (no one to 1)
Ive seen more than once operators not know how to get it to dyno correctly with out the auto kicking down. I ve also see operators do 6 year pulls on my buddies C6 lol can you say 200+ mph wheel speeds.
Ive been guilty of using cheaper priced tuners and have bit me in the ***. I found a guy literally in my back yard that knows his stuff. I hear his dyno from my house running m-f all day long. Guy has a waiting list 2-3 months to see him.
What kind of dyno does he have? Has he told you that he would dyno an A4 with a 2.73 in 3rd, with no more risk than running it in 2nd?
