Default AMS 1000 Boost Controller

Who is running them on a C5 & how do you like it?

Where are you mounting the display? Thanks.

Just installed one in our C6 with TTIX. Its a great device and we put it in the center console. It takes alot of time to setup and make sure you put the boost sensor on the positive side of the charge piping. It cannot see any vac at start up or it will fail cal and the controller will not work.

Cool. Any pics?
Which method are you using for ramping the boost? c02?
Which increments.
Thx

I dont think I have a picture of the finished product. Ill get one but it wont be today. Ill have to get Gus to snap a pic.

No C02. Just ramping noids. 3 settings.

Setting one looks like a blower on ams 1000 980rwhp

Setting two looks like a twin turbos setup on ams 1000 1020 to 1080 rwhp (The reason I say that is the dyno read different pull after pull)

Setting three max effort is 1186 rwhp STD all out.

The setting are controlled by toggle switches and can be flipped on the fly.

Hrm, that doesn't sound like a good setup for drag racing. I'm thinking of something where I could launch at 5-6 lbs of boost, and then ramp in additional boost throughout the run. I would think that would be more ideal for drag racing, more consistent, and probably safer as you wouldn't have to take a hand off the steering wheel to flip a switch.

I run an AMS1000 as well...(though not on my cars).... Its a great device. IT does work best if used with CO2 as a supplied air source. (Makes the targets more accurate and helps with spool time)...

I run mine in Shift based mode for drag racing, I don't run any ramps in it. If I was going to use it to launch with, I'd definitely have ramps built into it for 1st gear. Serious race cars run them in Time based mode for better/more accurate control.

If you have any questions about the AMS, let me know....I'll be glad to help you.

PS

A cool feature is "Scramble" set it up on a toggle or push button and stab the button when you "need" it... It will add however much boost on top of your normal target you want.... Good for emergencies...

For drag racing, you would set it up to run in TIME based mode. You will wire in an input signal from your clutch (stick car) to start the internal timer/delay/ramps. The AMS will build boost at whatever time/rate of gain you program into it. You don't have to touch a thing going down the track.

If your car is an auto, you will just need to use another trigger for the input...Could wire in a micro switch to the gas pedal linkage, as soon as the pedal moves, it starts the timer in the AMS.

Also the AMS can display boost level real time and also log boost through out a run and you can view it in graph form later.

Lots of neat stuff with this thing.... I'd be dead if I didnt have one....LOL

Mine isn't really set up well for drag racing, its really more for hi perf street riding and some land speed events but it has been down the 1/4 a number of times..my best ever was a single freak pass of 8.68@168 with a 1.54 60'. Normally it runs 8.80s@168 or so on low boost..(15 psi in 3rd, 4th, 5th.)

It has been 225.90 mph at the Texas Mile on 16 psi (340rwhp). It normally makes 320rwhp on pump gas and has made 435rwhp at 29 psi on C16.

Just a street cruiser...

That's got to be a trip.
Are the folks running the AMS 1000 on the C5 using the stock PCM or is that with a BS3, AEM, etc?
