I was looking on eBay and saw that there are some LS9 cams for sale for cheap. Given I will be running no headers on my car, would this be a better option than a ls6 cam (that will be installed)?
If so, what would be needed to make this happen and what would gains be on top of ls6 cam with vortech blower, ls2 (243) heads, PAC springs, trunion rockers, 3.42 rear, and ls6 intake.
Just curious about this if anyone has done it and has real world experience with ls9 cam.
Be sure to factor in the cost of the required LS2 cam timing setup. Cover, sprocket, sensor wiring, etc.
Its not worth the time money and effort. Also know that LS9 cams are specked for L92 heads. The ls9 cams will leave a lot of power on the table with 241/243/799/317 heads.
Did not realize all of this guys. Guess at the end of the day I'm just trying to get the best setup possible that would compliment the fact that I have no headers (to stay California smog legal). I spoke to Arun and he had mentioned one of his blower cams would only yield me an extra 10rwhp at most from an las6 given my no headers situation.

Dont they just hook into your computer and use a sniffer? I am sure the right set up with catted Xpipe will work.

In CA, you have to pass the visual inspection first before the sniffer test.
With the A&A kit, as long as you have the CARB sticker under the hood it will pass the visual.
Any headers with the smog tube will pass as well. Mine has the smog legal headers. I like the header-less option, less heat and less noise....I like quiet power....but thats just me.
I wouldn't worry about 10 more HP on a cam......whats 10hp when you're putting 550 to the wheels. LS6 cam will work fine.

That's not true...I'm almost 100% sure that the only headers that will pass emissions in CA are the B&B short tubes. Now if you know someone or whatever that's a different story..
There are a few shorty headers that have a CARB approval code which will work but not sure it will be worth it for me to invest the money in shorties for the overall gain.

Move here there are no smog emmissions where i live at
