383 stroker psc1 boost problem
I had my 1999 ls1 built into 383 stroker forged rotate asmbly and comp cam, mapped, blue printed reduced to 9.5 comp/ratio for procharger
PSC-1 s/c setup originally for 7# boost on 38# injectors.
AMS RACING in Bossier City did the work and tune.
now engine broken in with 2000 miles I tried to run it over 4000 rpm for the first time. only get 2# to 3# boost. was it tuned too lean? he did adjust program due to gas smell at idle. and now reduced power is obvious. ok while breaking in but now would like some real power increase/boost. Any knowledge or experience with this type problem?
Is it just a tune problem? ANY HELP APPRECIATED, THANKS.

But more than not is in the tuning of the ve table. belt slip not going to do the power loss, that one is bad and a pain plus more times than not will happen at low rpm. Robert

Sounds like you have multiple issues. Low boost isn't due to the tune. Gas smell can be, but can also be blamed on the cam. I've dialed in some pretty big cams and been able to bring the smell down to what I consider a reasonable level. Low boost can be belt slip or a boost/vacuum leak. These leaks are often difficult, if not impossible to detect and for that reason, I recommend a boost leak test. Cap off the inlet to the blower and pressurize the intake via the brake booster line.

Belt not slipping and adjusted for gas smell already. Now its the power missing from low boost. Maybe boost/vacuum leak. Bringing back to AMS Racing on Monday (7/23) to check program and leaks! Thanks for the help guys.

ISIS SUCKS FAT CHOAD
As Bret has stated the only real way usually to tell if you have a boost leak is to do a test as he recommended.
As for the smell of gas associated with big cams. It's just the nature of the beast. I have quite a large cam in my car and it smells bad. At first it was so bad that if I fired the car up in the garage, inside of 30 seconds you would have to leave the garage even with the door wide open. Now, I can sit in the car in the garage with the door open for a few minutes before I notice it and I can be outside in the car and be completely fine. Blownbluezo6@RKT56 tuned my cam in about an hour ( as far as cam drivability and idle goes). He's very good at what he does. Take his word very serious.

put car up on ramps, checking the hoses to intercoolers &found radiator on drivers side replaced at angle when new 383 stroker installed inwhich allowed the 3" hose to rub the tire & wore a silver dollar sized hole in the hose. replaced hose now power back to about 5# at 6000 rpm. ordered 3.6 pulley to replace 3.85 to add about 2-3# boost.
