Default LS2 Build

I’ll give you a little background on the car as it sits. I bought the car about 1 year ago with 98K on it. I only drive it out on the weekends. I bought a cam kit from Vengeance Racing with their VRX5 Cam. I love the sound but I wasn’t happy with the power so I decided to spray the car. It ran good for a couple months and then it started smoking pretty bad. At first I went into to valvetrain to find that a few valve seals had rode the valves up and I thought that was my problem. Well a buddy of mine had a set of 241's so I took those to a local machine shop and had the springs and new seals installed but after that I still had the same problem. Didn’t run bad or anything just smoked like crazy on acceleration so I figured it melted a ring or something so now I just cruise it around and await my new motor to be built. Everything is now at the builder and I can hopefully pick it up within the next week or two and get it going. Now to the new build.

I would like to also say a big thanks to Phil at Advanced Induction. He was great through the whole process of answering all my questions and doing it promptly. Also the turn around time on these heads were great and always kept in contact. Those guys are a top notch company and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Got a call from Scott (my builder) and he said the honing, line boring, and decking will be finished up Monday and should start assembly next week. I'm getting excited. Haven't drove my car in about 5 months so I'm ready to get it finished. Here is how it has been sitting as I should everything performance wise to fund this build.

Got a update from the builder. I had a couple small set backs but what build doesn't. Everything is handled now and he sent me some pictures last night. Also got the motor pulled from my car so I'm ready to get it going.

Well after a long wait I finally have the car back. I ran into a few problems along the way but all is well now with about 300ish miles on the new setup.

Just so everyone knows and I'm sure it's out there but if anyone is using the Caspers Knock & Cam sensor adapters you have to switch the pins on the cam sensor part of the adapter. I learned it the hard way after scratching my head and going crazy for a few hours.

I'm going for a dyno tune whenever I get my nitrous kit finished up just waiting on a few parts and ill be ready.

Well I got the car on the dyno yesterday and it made about what I expected it to make with the LS2 intake. She made 417RWHP corrected on my tuners Mustang Dyno. A buddy of mine done a test between his Mustang Dyno and Vengeance's Dynojet and the dynojet reads about 13% higher so that would equal out to about 471RWHP on a dynojet so I'm happy with that. The AI heads worked out great and perform better than I expected. Ready to get a FAST102/102 combo and see if I can break 500 on a dynojet with stock casting heads.

I know people have done it with the TF/G6X3/FAST combo but I wanted to be different

Did have one problem and that was it was pushing coolant from the water pump at higher RPMs. It's a reman pump from Advance Auto. Has anyone else had this problem.

Spray setup & numbers are still to come.

Ross

So then those numbers are N/A, before the Nitrous?

That's pretty good if so!

Thanks,Matt

Nice work; I'm sure that it'll be fun on the spray. BTW, I'm just down the road from you off of 136, so if you feel like taking a ride, give me a shout. 770-654-5819

Nice Job Ross!

Not surprised by the numbers. Solid build. I had a 231/239 .617/.621" 113+4 LsR cam in my stock engine with a FAST 90/90, LG streets with cats, Vararam still hooked up, and as cast 243 heads. Did 435whp on dynojet.

Time to enjoy for the summer.
