I have the Wolfe. I put 2 screws in the wall and hang my removable door bars on them.
Yes, that is where the door bars spend most of their time. Also, try to retain your stock belts for the street. It's a pain using harnesses on the street.

Yes that was my intention. I have looked at most of the prefab
rollbars. I like the high priced ones the most. But I am talking
to a local welder who does alot of cages.
Really depends how stout a build you want.
Are you looking for something to hang a harness and GoPro on and maybe sneak by tech or something that might actually save your life?

If you want something to weld in, I have a handful of hoops and seat belt cross bars pre bent up I'll sell cheap. $100 for both, we got out of the roll cage business a while ago but I bent up a whole bunch of them a while back at one time and these were left over.
All you need to complete it would be the two back bars and door bars, mounting pads too of course.
Hell I have a nice tubing bender I'll sell too!

I think you are bordering on trash talk Why would anyone go to all the trouble of putting a rollbar in their vette for looks??????????????????
NHRA/SCCA/NASA ok rollbars for GoPro and harness's (vendors
make harness bars--right) NOT. They inspect for their safety rules.
I guess they are helping to save your life. HUH?????
Oh and I'm a member of all 3 sanctioning bodies.
I know alot of folks who pay retail-that's good for them.
I don't pay retail. For anything.

Sounds good I will talk it over with my welder and see what he thinks.
Thank you.
I looked into this a few months ago and was surprised at what it takes to correctly install a 5 or 6 point cage in a vette. There is a lot of disassembly requred. Some people even go as far as removing the gas tanks and driveline to do it right. I received quotes in the $5k range for a custom install and that was with me doing all of the disassembly work.
Doug,
Are the hoops that you have left designed to weld a support mount to the frame rail behind the seats and then land the cage on top of it?

Our cages/bars are NHRA certed, pads get welded to the frame rail on the side of the car, from there a section of roll bar extends out with a gusset to hold the hoop. Roughly a few inches above the floor.
The back bars go directly to the frame rails also right before where the center section starts, also on a proper pad welded in.
We never removed tanks or anything else to install them, we just made sure that there wasn't any hoses etc near from the fuel system when welding, and we used seam sealer to fill in the small gap left from pad to fiber glass. That also helped keep out burnout smoke into the car.
Mounting the bars to the top of the seat back area has no real strength there, couple that with a pad mounted to the wood floor and it may pass tech for a roll bar, but in actuality it's useless IMO.

Turbo-Geist-Thanks for the info. Yea you have to tear out alot
to put a rollbar in and more for a cage. What I have noticed
the shops that don't do alot of busines installing rollbars/cages
charge more than shops that do alot of this kind of work. I
guess the shops that do alot of rollbars have figured out all
the shortcuts and can do it faster and better. I have 2 more shops
to talk to.
Has anyone heard this: Chrome-moly is not as strong as the
steel bar after the weld. The chrome-moly will bend alot more.
I heard from a shop today. I know the weight saving with the
chrome.
