I have been reading all the highpowered vettes and I am
impressed. I got to wondering how many actually race
their vettes as opposed to just rideing around and going
to car shows.
I guess my question is Do you have a rollbar or a cage???
In Florida you will need at least a 5 point rollbar to run on
the 1/8 or 1/4 mile tracks.
Thanks for your imput.
I put a 5 point in a long time ago so I could run at the track along with a 5 point harness. That was good until I hit below a 10.00 and/ or 135 mph in the 1/4. I have been given the boot many times for hitting in the 9's. Nobody ever said anything about my mph which was well past 135 before I got a 9. Each track is different on how strict they are.
If you want safety go with a good weld in. If I could go back I would have had a custom full cage put in by a quality shop that could build it to NHRA specs....
I ran 11.7 at 126mph last year when I went to the track for the first time with the supercharger setup at 572rwhp. Trapped 127 on a different pass. I'm 2 weeks away from a motor build and will be at 700+rwhp. I've been thinking a lot about a cage, but I'm nervous about tearing apart my interior. I also do a lot of autocross and am going to start road racing this year, so I need to do something.
Best nitrous pass was a 9.89@139.8 with a 1,48 60'. I do Top Speed standing mile racing which was the need for the full rollcage rule requirements.
My little hobby vette has to do alot of jobs--autocross, 1/4 mile
and once in a while show. Frankly I am keeping my time and
speed down. I use the vette to ride around in and a rollbar
really does not get in my way. A rollcage is another story I
expect with the dash pulled out there will be alot of noises
when it goes back in. The cage would be in the way. My wife
is not understanding when a side door bar would be in the way.
So I just have fun at the track and not worry about being the
winner everytime, or having a really fast vette.

interior comes our fairly easy & quick.
right after i bought mine, i had to gut it to fix some leaks & with the exception of removing the dash, i could have the whole thing out in 30-45 min and replace it in just over that
