Default DRM SC

what do you folks know about the Magnuson SC option that DRM has? Any pics of the hood their offering w/ the package? PRICE? My understanding is that their hood package is different from the one LPE offers. Also, anyone have any insight as to any differences in their tuning (DRM vs. LPE)? I talked to someone @ DRM and they said that tuning was a piece of cake. They hit 400 rwhp/400 rwtq on an SC installed, otherwise stock, 2002 MN6.
I'm s'posed to get pics and a few quotes depending on which route I want to take. Although LPE is closer, I have high regards for DRM as well. I am hoping they are very competitive in price to offset the difference in distance. Any preference to LPE or DRM and why??

DRM has the tuning of the SC package down. I got to go for a ride and Doug has this package dialed. LPE probably has it right on as well. In 6th gear from like 2k it pulled without a ping or rattle like a freight train. I was thinking of putting it on my 427 but Magnason said it wouldn't move enough air for the CI's. I don't think the wait is as long at DRM vs LPE for those who can't wait.

thanx Ripped! WHo's car is that? It looks awesome! I like DRM's hood more so than LPEs. It's got the center dip detail thing going. Any idea on pricing? Do you know if they offer the same kind of warranty as LPE?

Ripped 427, where did you find those pics? There is nothing about the Magnuson supercharger or that hood on Rippie's web site. I'm very interested in that hood. Who do I contact about odering one? Thanks,

Greg

I talked to Doug today and told him he needs to sign up as a supporting vendor.... I don't know how many road racer/auto crossers hang out here cause that's the stuff they do the most of.

I'm not going to post anymore about the DRM stuff unless they sign on here..

Price 8300 something.... For install, hood and warranty.. I'll see if I can get some additional pictures for you guys, after they sign up.

I really like the DRM Heat extractor hood, wish the SC fit under that...damn

Mellow Yellow,

The hood came from KGP in Buena Park, Ca. Doug(DRM) is a distributer of our parts for all the folks back east. We made the hood to specificly fit the Magnuson supercharger in cooperation with Magnuson. Fit is right on with just enough clearance for the blower.

Futer hoods will incorperate Dougs idea of installing a louverd vent under the cowl(just in front of the windsheild). This will provide some cooling to the supercharger(Cowl induction style).

We have this same hood on my 02 m-yellow C5 Coup(w/blower etc) and it really gets the looks. I can supply plenty of pics to who ever is interested. Hope this helps.

Eric,
I would love to see more pics. You can post here or send it to my e-mail, vtchow@aol.com.
Also, when do you expect new hood options for the SC to be available? I think a DRM heat extractor style hood that will fit the SC would be ideal for me. That is one of the things stopping me from doing the package....
thanx!
Thom

Will the DRM heat extractor fit with the Magnuson?
The pictured hood above made specifically for the Magnuson.. How much did it weigh and what was the price? What does the stock hood weigh?

Thx!!

It looks like that hood would give me the inch or so clearance that I need. Is that hood any higher over the airbridge? My airbridge vibrates my hood at high RPM's. I just need an inch or so.

Let me know.

I think your thread got a little off topic there on the hood. I will give you my completely ignorant opinion on which way I would go after reading everyone's literature and reading some of the stuff on this forum. If DRM is publishing 400rwhp, I think LPE is getting around 40 more. And the way you feel about DRM is the way most people feel about LPE.....I honestly don't think they would let you out the door unless you were totally satisfied....top notch outfit just like DRM. Seems like the prices are simliar as well. I am sure there are a lot of happy ATI guys out there but there just seems like there are a lot of guys having trouble as well.....Just my 2 cents.

John
PS......I am just glad that LPE is not close to me. They would already have my car.
