Traction: Wider vs Stickier
Wider? (Mini tube/wide fender, wider wheel, wider invo tires)
Or
Stickier? (New Nitto NT05R 305/19)
i do understand that the NT05s can start to get a little greasy on corners when they're hot, though. i've heard good stuff on the RE-11s (i believe there's some that size) and they're a little stickier than the 05s at 180TW without going to a R-comp. pricier, though
but it's true - i've seen some guys cut crazy times on a 275 drag tire mounted on 17s

why do people just default to 1/4mi thinking? i never understood that...

This could also mean maybe a highway pull? I think u did what u think everyone thinks they do? Lol.
Understand that? Or should I be giving him info on what the best tires for the snow are in case he decides to drive his car to Alaska...or maybe he is thinking of turning it into a rock crawler...I could recommend tires for that too

and i'm pretty sure some of these guys make more power than a lot of us

but then again, they should probably be drawn & quartered for not using theirs as a drag car instead
and i seem to remember how the last big 99% movement made some people look

if you don't understand that tire companies make certain variations of their race tires based on whether or not you're going straight or turning, then you're the one who needs to stop giving tire advise.
you actually are correct in saying "Sidewall is better for traction no matter where you are." that's probably the most generic way to say what we assume you mean, but it's true nonetheless.
a taller softer sidewall helps absorb some of the torque of launching the 1/4mi or gunning it down an open stretch of interstate, however in keeping with your statement, a shorter stiffer sidewall keeps your weight more centered over the contact patch during high-g cornering. simple example: look at the Nitto 555R (for drag racing) and 555R2 (for road racing). they're roughly the same tire except the R2 has reinforced sidewalls.
let's all think for a second... do you see many people getting their best 60' times on stiff low-aspect tires? of course not. in that same respect, do you see anybody getting good lap times with 28" tires on 17" wheels? of course not.
i don't know why people are getting their panties all in a bunch because i mention non-drag tires to somebody who never even specified what kind of racing he does (yet the guy before me somehow suggested road race tires and nobody made a peep about them). on top of that, he even specifically stated that he rarely visits the track (again - no mention of drag strip, circuit, etc), and i'm 100% certain that he can't leave his house, get somewhere where he can haul the mail, and go back home without at some point encountering some turns. in case you can't tell by the threads people post about on/off ramps, mountain/canyon drives, etc, corners are also fun in these cars. i understand OK City ain't the most hilly or curvy place, but considering there's at least 4 major road courses within 7hrs, it's possible he could be part of the 1% that prefers lateral fun. maybe y'all should be the ones who need to stop assuming...
even based on him being in the FI section claiming 660rwhp and having a pic with a stock hood (indicating a belt-blower), that ain't even a conclusive result because i've actually seen quite a few centri cars who turn the wheel when they go fast.
and regarding the snide Prius comment... please

i would've rolled a Prius driving it the way i do my car
I suggest Mickey Thompson ET Street II if you need a stockish sized tire
