I know the stroker engine and stock stroke engine thing has been beat to death. But, what about a 3.9 inch stroke crank? On Texas Speed K1 offers one and is that a happy medium?

Thanks,

It can allow for a thicker piston crown which can affect the pistons ability to put up with abuse, however before you get jumpy and order that crank find out what it takes to get a piston with the right compression height to mate up with that crank stroke and a 6.125" rod that satisfies your compression requirements. You may find that it's difficult to get a piston for that setup, making it more sensible to go with a more popular stroke so you don't have to wait or possibly pay more. It's also possible that since TSP is so big, they already have a shelf piston available for it, making the only down side the loss of displacement, which isn't really a big deal.
Ahhh okay makes sense. I think stock stroke it is keep it simple and use all off the shelf parts.
Keep in mind that even off the shelf parts will not give you a perfect zero'd piston to deck height. After the block is decked the piston will stick out the hole a few thousandths of an inch. Is this a problem, not really.. I always prefer to order custom pistons though.
I downsized from 4" to 3.825" and have no complaints whatsoever. Dont even notice any reduction in torque, but it will be easier on the engine and better for the pistons etc.
My only choice would be between the 3.825" and stock stroke.
