Hi guys I'm building a fuel system for my 98 supercharged c5. I've been having a tough time finding a location for my fuel pressure regulator. My model Vette its not in the pump like the newer cars. Here's the only place that I could find will work. Let me know if you feel the alternator could arc it or am I scaring my self for nothing. I went the extra mile and rubber coated the fuel lines next to the alternator as well.

You should be fine, the alternator isn't charged, just stay away from that big nut on the back of it. There are however regulations for NHRA and what not that depict how far the reg can be in front of the firewall. Not sure what they are off the top of my head, but worth looking into if you're planning on needing that.
I wouldn't want it there. Mainly it could take a hit if you snap a belt, or possibly crush if it breaks a motor mount? Lots of people mount it directly on the fuel rail. Also seen it mounted A&A style to a bracket off the brake master cylinder.

I am with you here Chris, with a F/I set up if that belt goes could be bad. Mount it off the brake master cylinder.. Robert
I've tried those locations the regulator hits the hood. What do you guys mean by a&a style is that where they put there regulators? They usually don't sell a regulator in there kit.
Now that I think of it if a belt snapping is the only issue with this location then I will just make up a belt guard to protect the regulator. Arcing was my main concern.
Make your own L bracket and bolt it to the brake booster. I have my Magnafuel there and it fits perfect. I can still change the plugs easy and it sits a little lower than the master cylinder.

I agree this is much better and where mine is located. I have seen some people mount it on the fuel rail and that would probably be fine as well. but by the master is my preference.

Here's the instructions from A&A website. I made a bracket and had it there for a while, but noticed that sucker gets really hot, and relocated into the fender.
I located mine behnd the alt. I made my own L-bracket -
Once I get home I can post a pic of it. It is safe there, behind the alt.
If you make a metal deflector guard, make sure you use a heavier metal and not a thin piece of sheet metal or tin. It will take a beating and not offer much protection.
I can't do by the booster and master due to the valve covers I made are to bulky. I did spend today making a belt shield I will post up a pick tomorow after the clear coat dries.
