I bought an 02 Z06 with the old Vortech kit on it. the alternator is moved to the passenger side and and the the blower is on the driver side. The car has had problems for years with it throwing the serpentine belt off and I am wondering if this is a common problem with this kit. It happened to me last night for the first time. I have not got it apart yet to check pulley alignment myself but i know that the previous owner has paid a couple different mechanics to check the system out. anyone out there with similar problems?
I do not. Is that a reasonably priced tool that i can easily get my hands on? sounds like its exactly what I need
That is what we use to help with problems like this. Make sure to Calibrate it when you get it. There about $99. It will come with a paper you fold to align it. Also take the time to MIC your spacers from vortech and make sure they all match in there current places. Taking the time to do this will solve your problem if it is an alignment issue. Is the belt pulling towards the motor or towards the radiator?
It came off toward the radiator. It looks like it came off over by the power steering because when I opened the hood the belt was still on the pulleys on the passenger side.
not sure if you ever solved your issue but i have noticed on my vortech setup the power steering pulley rubs on the supercharger body it chewed up the outside edge of the pulley and also tore the edge of the belt all to hell
i know an older thread but looking for help changing out the serpentine belt. i have an original Vortech V2 sc made by vortech.. neither vortech or aa had any info.
i know sc has to be removed but unsure exactly what needs to be re3moved and more importantly what to do i need to be careful with?
