Default Catch can turbo Pcv question.

So I'm almost finished up with my turbo build, just finishing up some odds and ends. I have a question about how to run it. What I have is a non vented catch can and a ecs oil breather cap. I have my driver side valve cover going to the catch can, and the passenger side just caped and vented by the breather, and vacuum source to the can. My question is do I need to run the vented passenger side valve cover to the can also. I have read 100s of threads about this and I thought I read not to mix clean air with dirty as in don't run the vented passenger to the catch can. Who is running a set up like this and how? Thanks Eric.

Where are the pics of the build??

Here is what I did on mine:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-f...5-lives-3.html
See posts 49 and 50 for the breather I made. -10 from each valve cover to breather, and then two -10's vented to atmosphere at the bottom of the cradle.

What valve covers are you using?

I run a catch can on the PCV line. I was running an oil cap breather, but it got messy at higher boost like over 15#. So now the oil cap is routed with -10 line to a breather tank. It's an LS6, with nothing on my driver side cover. This has worked great with no mess and no smell.

Ya I've seen your setup it's nice. I haven't posted recent pictures yet until I'm done, I've started about 3 years ago and keep switching things around so I don't want to do a drug out build. Soon I will post all the pics of my build. If you search under my name you can see some of my old sit-ups. Right now I'm running stock valve covers with -6 lines. Right now I'm hoping to use what I have, I'm just burnt out of this car and want to finish it. I have a few winter projects I plan on doing and that was one of them new valve covers with -10 bungs welded in. So my concern is do I run a line form the vented valve cover or do I just leave it vented and not to the catch can. Thanks Eric

If I am reading this right, there will be no breather any longer if you run that line to the sealed catch can you have. If this is correct, then you are going to be sealed off under boost (assuming there is a check valve in your PCV catch can) and most likely push oil somewhere. I would just leave the open breather vent on for now until you do the other covers later. That would essentially be what Chris described his being like... will probably make a bit of mess under high boost.

Yes there is a breather it's a ecs oil cap breather on the passenger side of the valve cover, there is no breather on the catch its self though. And yes there is a Pcv valve inline to prevent positive pressure back in. Thanks for you input, Eric.

No, I would leave it as you have it for now. The way you currently have it will draft fresh air across the crankcase while in vacuum, which is a good thing.
