Default How much boost is too much...

Right now with the mods listed I have 382RWHP. I have a ProCharger with 7psi on order and was wondering if the bottom end can take that much power.
I figure with the SC I would be pushing close to 500RWHP. I'd use 50# Injectors of course and anything else to prolong engine life. Or am I better off going with less boost?

Your problem is going to be compression. H/C and SC don't play well together. I learned the hard way --- blew the number 7 cylinder.

You need to get the compression down under 10:1.

As for the stock bottom end, well, mine didn't. I'm having the whole bottom end redone.

His C/R will be a problem. But for people at stock LS1 C/R, they are ok as long as they address the fuel system and upgrade not just the injectors, but the pump too.

Yes, I agree. All my damage wouldn't have happened if the pump had been upgraded. Makes me pretty mad at ATI for not recommending it!

ATI used to include a cheap voltage booster to increase pump output on the Camaro LS1's, but just before the C5 kit came out they dropped any pump increases altogether. Lame eh?

Just about every 7# ATI kit is a time bomb if installed with their directions.

I totally agree with the above as Mello Yellow stated, upgrade the injectors and the pump. Even though ATI hasn't said you need one, I think they are wrong, just like with supposedly not needing the crank keyed, now apparently they are sending the keying kit. You can't go wrong upgrading the fuel system, but the risk of not having adequate fuel can be devastating.

I will be using 50# injectors, but I agree compression will be a problem. Right now my LS6 heads are either at 11:1 or 11.5:1, they are .5 over stock.

What type of pump should I buy? And thanks for the advice.

With that underdrive pulley on there you will not be getting 7 psi, you know that right?

Xtreme told me I'd be fine with an ATI @ 7psi on top of my existing heads/cam as far as the bottom end goes, and I trust their opinion.

I bought a 8rib custom pulley system, so I will be removing it...

Ok... Did some more research (I looked at MelloYellow's sig) and it looks like Lingenfelter has a good fuel pump, so I'll buy that.

So for a quick review... I will use the 7psi ATI Kit, #50 Injectors, and the LPE Fuel pump, is there anything else I am missing? Will compression still be a problem?

I have a feeling my winter project will be rebuilding a tranny... :D

I'm using the LPE pump. If only I had known (or ATI, who should have), I would have saved literally tens of thousands of dollars.

I still thing compression is going to be a problem for you.

That's a damn shame... A 300.00 part and they don't have the ***** to admit it's needed. I'll make sure that's ordered.

About the compression, I think I am going to look for a set of LQ4 heads and have them ported and polished, stock compression is 9.5:1 and the flow numbers are similar to the LS6.
