Default Custom OS

Anybody using a custom OS from EFI Live or one of the SD modes in HPT? I was wondering which system to ask my tuner to use so I always have the ability to backup/dl/ul tunes with my own sw.

most of us in here are running a custom OS.

I had a 2bar custom OS but will be upgrading to a 3bar.

how much boost are you making?

changing the OS is easy and can be done at will. with HP tuners and I'm sure its the same with EFI live. With that said, once the vehicle is licensed to your interface none of the other stuff matters.

System is ready to be installed but not in yet. I am doing the up front prep work so I know what to discuss with the tuner. I have both EFILive and HPT but have spent most of my time working in EFILive on my N/A setup. Boost will be fairly low since my comp is fairly high and I'll be running an Alky Control setup.

Anything else required - how about a different MAP sensor?

All of my turbo trucks (4) have had COS5 systems SDSemi-CL and my Vette is running a 3Barr SDOL system as well. Any problems or are you just gauging interest?

Trying to determine what my system needs. After the install, I have the option of going to either A&A or CMS. neither has really given me any specifics on what route they'd go based on what my setup configuration will be. I did most of the tuning on my N/A setup but won't risk doing any tuning myself on an FI setup.

if your running a 2bar os than you should run a 2 bar map sensor (there's tons of info on here and tech with the various part numbers)

if your going to be around 15 psi or less than stick with a 2 bar OS. with the 3 bar MAP sensor they tend to loose some resolution. but in some instances you have no choice but to use a 3 bar MAP

dsteak does some custom map sensor work and everyone seems to be happy with his product. I dont know the details on what he does. I'd PM him if I were you.

Cool, I will PM him. I'll be running under 15 psi so it looks like the 2 bar setup for me.

Thanks.

This should be up to your tuner.

If he/she is not familiar with C(ustom) Operating System, then perhaps scaling is better approach. But only if he/she is familiar with scaling. And so on.

No matter what's the approach, you should be able to go back between (backup) tunes if you personally want to do so. As well as hardware, typically with MAP sensors and/or MAF/MAFless.

In some cases, obviously, you cannot just upload parameters, you'd have to do full re-write. But all this is tiny details of backing up/uploading of tune. The main thing is about your tuner. Ask him/her what to do. After that post it here; preferably with his/her reasoning..
