I am debating on doing FULL SOLID motor mounts on my car vs polyurethane mounts. My turbo is heavy and we are putting a brace to the frame from the turbo flange....With that said I am upgrading the mounts to either poly or solid alum mounts.
Now my question is will there be any issue with the diff not being mounted solid if the engine is? Back in my brother's mustang days if you mounted the engine solid you had to mount the tranny solid or there would be issues. I know the vette has a completely different drivetrain setup but if anyone has experience I would appreciate some input!
Stock mounts are in it at the moment...
I would rather use poly mounts as it will be street driven still. With the flex pipes in the crossover I think poly mounts should work and then I wouldn't have to worry about the diff mounts.
My brother (also my fab guy) is telling me he would do solid unless it will be harmful to the rest of the driveline.
I have always been told you have to a poly or rubber mount for the trans if you run solid motor mounts to compensate for chassis flex and heat expansion and contraction. Dont see how it would be any differant with this. I have stuck with this and never had an issue.
I was getting a 'bang' in my drive train and replacing the motor mounts fixed the problem - went with the solid. Vibration is not as bad as expected...

I am glad for you buddy, I would have though the other way in these cars. Good to see you in here.
I'm running HinsonSupercars engine and rearend mounts. Appears to be little to no flex, but drivability is great. I pulled out the driveline the other night and the engine went back to its normal position after the removal (no sag in the back).
I'm on my 3rd set of Hinson motor mounts (3 different cars) I really like the quality and performance of them. I use a solid trans/Diff mount in my current car.
