Default Highest mileage C5 FI first installed?

OK so I seriously considered buying a new truck, but at $25k+ additional insurance, taxes, registration etc I thought of the opportunity cost of doing some stuff to the C5

My 98 has mostly bolt on suspension mods, I have not touched the engine, just a Calloway CAI, X pipe (only cause the stock H pipe broke) and Z06 TI mufflers.

Soooo, looks like one of the most cost effective mods is a supercharger system from A&A or ECS with a good tune. Only trouble is- my car is 8k miles from 200k as it's my daily driver. I read that one guy here added his S/C at 125k.

Obviously, this will depend on the condition of the engine. I haven't tested its compression or got a baseline dyno reading but was wondering if anyone supercharged their stock engine at over 150k.

Not looking to do anything super crazy, perhaps 8 PSI or so, plus other breather mods like LT headers. If I blow up the engine I'm not super worried about it as I have access to other vehicles but I drive the C5 every day since it's the most enjoyable Thoughts?

Put the SC on, blow up the engine and then build a new motor.

I just did mine at 80k, only a few thousand miles so far though - - I'm sure others will chime in that went SC at higher mileage...

Milage is not as much of a factor as internal condition or how hard it's been beaten on. A car can have > 200k of highway miles, careful use and proper maintenance and be in far better shape than another with 80k of hard use and neglect.
Start with a leak down check.

Mine went on at 160k. It's about 200 k now.

Just turboed my friends ls2 gto with 240k on the clock. Handled the first pull good lol. Time will tell. I'm currently piecing together a turbo setup for my 150k ls1 frc too

Honestly i wouldn't worry as long as the motor is still good on compression.. i know its not the same.. but my 2001 VW TDI had 468k on it when i Big Turbo'd it.. after the OEM turbo taking a dump on me.. i drove it for another 20k before selling it and that guy still dailys it..

Throw a super charger on it, don't worry about the miles. If it blows, have a forged short block built...around $3500 should build you a decent short block.
