Detonation only when spraying
A few months ago i was throwing a lean code and with that my car was detonating while at WOT. I used a Air/Fuel Calibrator and the code went away as well as the detonation or pinging sound. I just had NOS installed (NX wet 100 shot) and when i'm spraying it's pinging alot but ONLY when i'm spraying, not when it's floored on just the motor.
I have NGK TR55 Spark Plugs, wondering if that would cause the problem?
I will have install pics and more thoughts tomorrow when i have more time, i think most will be impressed by the stealth install under the hood........no, i didn't do the install:(
Thanks in advance,
Frank

Re: Detonation only when spraying (NYtoCA)
Do yourself a huge favor and don't hit the nitrous again until you can get your car on a dyno w/ a wideband O2 sensor. That's the best way to tune a nitrous car w/o blowing it up. If you hear pinging while on the juicie, you usually blow up shortly afterwards.
You also need to install TR6 sparkplugs and test the fuel pressure while driving the car under load.
Last but not least, CA 91 octane gas alone is probably not adequate for any nitrous use. At the very least I would add two gallons of Toluene to a tank of gas. That will fight off detonation. Unleaded race gas is better but you'll need 4-5 gallons of unleaded race gas to get enough octane.

Yes to what Rat said, especially don't run it again without a knowledgeable tuner on a dyno with wideband O2's equipment. Would hate for you to have a custom hood and carry your motor home in a box. (Great looking ride by the way...I like the silver and black convert)

Re: Detonation only when spraying (compuvette)
I love the 224 cam! If it was strickly my race car i would of went with the 229 but i still find excuses to drive it even though i have another car. Theres a slight lump and shake, it's perfect.
The H/C's along with my headers, x-pipe and stingers really make it sound pretty mean. :D
