Default Cooling Mist Experience Beware !

Hey guys

Just wanted to give you a heads up on this company. I have spend around 2K with them over the last 5 years and this last experience has been poor.

I just purchased a new VariCool 2 controller from them at a total cost of around 350.00 cdn including shipping as I paid for expedited to get it quick. The part showed up damaged which may or may not have been caused by USPS. I contacted info@coolingmist.com to report the issue and the responder stated that he would replace it but I had to pay for the shipping cost to return it. I said no, its your responsibility as I am not returning because I don't want it...its broken. He refused to so I filed a claim with Paypal to get my money back. I told him to just send me a waybill and I would return it asap. He refused as its their policy not to pay for any returns for any reason.

Please be aware with this when dealing with this company as this is not proper customer service.

Rob @ champion and Andy @ A&A sells these products so I wonder if they are treated the same way ?

just my experience ...take care

It was shipped in a bubble envelope...I guess someone could put a heavy package on it. I am surprised its not in a box as well !

It does look very chincy inside as the connections look very brittle.

I'm surpriesed they didn't have shipping insurance?? Last part i recieved from a part store online was damaged and i didn't get my money back untell the shipping company payed them before i got payed which took 6 weeks. If they had insurance eventually you'll get your money.

That sucks!
FYI, I've been told UPS nor FedEx will pay for damages for improperly packed items and their rule of thumb on packing is a minimum of 2" of cushion material around the product. You had 1/4" at best. That's 100% negligence IMO and due to wanting to save a few dollars on shipping. I hope you win your case. It sounds like you deserve to based on what you're telling us.
If you decide to get a product with real customer service, let me know and I'll hook you up with an Alky Control kit.

Wow great service! Ya know I just don't get some companies. Issues happen, we all get that, but why not just take care of this and move on. Now, at the expense of some shipping $$$ they get a nice black eye on the forum, nuts!

Sorry to hear about the way you are being treated as a customer. Are they a vendor on this site? If you can, you should make a post on some mainstream social media sites where this will get additional visibility.

The busted areas are called breakout tabs in the ckt board industry.
So it broke right where it is supposed to.
Looks like they also sell a round version of the product?

Sad packaging they used.

Hey guys...Its pretty poor packaging and service. The small envelope is obviously used to save money and probably 95% of the time they get lucky and have no issues. But the time there is an issue they don't take care of the customer.

Bret my man.....Does Alky control sell a controller where you can hook up a boost line?

thx

I don't think they are a vendor but other vendors buy from them on here like Andy from A&A and Rob from Champion

I will send the Coolingmist team and email to this thread and ask them to post why they feel they shouldn't cover the return costs in this case. I am sure they would like to explain their side.

Drew, I know many turbo guys who use the Snow Performance kit. This model is specifically for boosted Vettes. I think they offer a more expensive control unit if you need one, too.

I just installed 2 weeks ago their CMGS system, packing and the product itself is great, a lot less bulky than Alky control, which i saw before thats the reason i went with cooling mist. I love it and configuration is simple too.

Too bad your arrived broken, regarding return shipping, they should honor that small stuff like these would reap a lot in long term. GL with your paypal resolve however their product is great though.

for example last year i purchased head gasket from SDPC, by mistake i got one Ls6 head gasket and another one for LS3 or Ls7.....i emailed them right, he asked me keep the head gasket and they sending them in next rush delivery another set.......boy was he right......within 24 hrs i got another new set for no extra.....now thats a service. Hope cooling mist will do the same, talk to them politely.
