Default Nitrous Express...

All you folks thinking about nitrous systems might want to think twice about Nitrous Express. First off...their throttle positioning switch instructions is backwards from what it should be. Secondly, they send instructions with about half of the things that comprise their systems...the other half is a guessing game.

I just installed a system on my car. It has worked a few times, but I am having troubles with the bottle opener doing it's job...seems to be a fragile marriage. What a bummer as I was looking forward to using the thing today.

Just be advised...by the way, let me know if any of you guys have had similar problems either positive or negative about NX.

I got the system from TByrne. They aren't the most helpful lot either, however, after some prodding they really did go out of their way to assist in any way possible. Nevertheless, it seems as though neither company is paying attention to detail very much.

Sorry to hear about your trouble. I just finished my NX install last Thursday and have not had any problems. My bottle opener and TPS work fine. Each package came with installation and wiring instructions. The wiring pics are not schematics but they got the idea across. I have all the insturctions, send me a fax number and I'll get them to you tomarrow. I did change the wiring for the heater switch. I don't like having the heater and bottle opener on seperate switches. I have mine wired so when I open the bottle, the heater is turned on and controlled by the pressure switch. The heater relay stays energized as long as the bottle is open. When I close the bottle, the heater realy is deengized. Let me know if you want those copies.

I delt with Julie Stewart at Nitrous Warehouse and they have been great. I do know the Warehouse and Nitrous Express have been relocating and delayed me in recieving a couple of items. But that is the only problem, if that's even a problem, that I have had. :smash: :smash: :smash:

Newberd...

That would be great! My fax number is (859) 746-3352. I use it as my home phone line as well but it should go through.

I have had a difficult time working with the system. Like you, there are some things that I would change...that is is good idea about the bottle heater.

I have the instructions for the installation of the bottle opener, it is just that the illustrations don't show much due to the faxed copy. I was hoping someone could draw a sketch and fax it to me to insure that I have the darn thing installed right.

The system worked before, but it seems to be fragile and if things aren't aligned perfectly, then the bottle opener doesn't do the job...as is the case.

Plus, to make matters worse, I have a convertible so I have to stuff everything into the center compartment which is no easy task...thank God I didn't opt for the 15 pound bottle.

I am sure the system is a quality system, it is just that the instructions aren't the best...the TPS instructions I got are backwards (turning the screw in the switch the wrong way to control the light...my car is an automatic which makes things simple, yet it took hours to figure out).

If you could rough me a sketch to make sure I have the bottle opener on right...that would be great! As mentioned, my fax is (859) 746-3352...my phone is (859) 802-1971...but I will be tied up in school until about 9:30 tomorrow.

Thanks Newberd...I appreciate your help.

Hey Newberd...

I use the line as both fax and phone, that was probably why. I will keep the fax hooked up in case you want to try it again. Thanks...the help is very much appreciated. The fax again is (859) 746-3352.

Did you try to call NX direct, or were you dealing with a dealer? Nx tech support is awesome. We have been installing their stuff for years, and never have warranty work. Sounds like a bad install or just a fluke. Hope it works out.

Albert...

Thanks for the reply. David helped me out by faxing all the directions to the system along with many of the accessories. He also faxed some hand sketches of the electrical wiring which makes more sense than the instructions.

I called NX...they said that it sounds like a loose clutch. According to them it is an easy fix with a 10mm wrench. I will fool with it later and let everyone know the outcome. When the system works it is awesome...when it doesn't it is a pain in the butt.

Take care....

Nothing worse that all of the adrenalin rush from a nitrous system and the anticipation of hitting it and then.."nothing"..
I really hate it when that happens.. :mad
