Just picked up my car from my tuner. I am getting the following codes and reduce engine power and service traction control errors
The codes are
P1514H
C1278H
B0333HC
A6B2860C
C1295H
Engine shakes like crazy and could not go faster then 20 MPH. It will take around 8 to 10 starts for the engine to rev normally. As soon as I give it some gas while I am driving, the reduce engine power and the service traction control errors come on again. Take about 40 starts to drive 50 miles Tuner is not open until Monday. Any ideas on this issue?
after you're done pulling the codes, press and hold reset to make them go away. See what comes back and how the car runs afterwards. The 1514 is reduced engine power and 1278 comes with it automatically. That'll make the car run like dog crap. If the 1514 code comes back, the tune is often not right and needs to be cleaned up 99% of the time, starting with the 1514 table. If that table is maxed out, then the tune may need to be scaled.
If the 1514 goes away and the car still runs like crap, then check your plug wires to make sure none came off, along with injector clips. Given you don't have any other codes to justify the car running like this, those are the things I would check first. Does the car have cats? I've seen them jam up seemingly overnight before and that's the last thing I can think of that these symptoms remind me of.
addition: check fuel pressure when this is going on too.
The 1514 keep coming back. I disconnected the battery tonight and ss will it help
Check all the basics then. Fuel pressure, injector clips, plugs, plug wires and then look at the color of your cats if you have them. If they've got a colored heat band on them then that's an indicator that they could be clogged. you can try having someone rev the car while you feel the exhaust at the back of the car, but be careful because i've seen them blow out the tail pipes and it's a pretty violent affair. You can also put a temp gun on the X pipe and check before and after the cats and you'll know pretty quickly.
I will do that. If I can't find anything, I will bring it back to the tuner and let him fix it. It is his job. He did the install and tune
I would agree it's only his job if it's directly related to parts he sold and installed. If he installed and tuned it and your cats went to hell, I would expect it to be fair for you to be charged for diagnostics and repair.
