Default Help with last problem on build

No power brakes. I double checked that the booster and vacuum line are connected behind the intake. Its hard to believe that the car will run if it is leaking that bad. It has to be the manifold leaking. Right?

Let me check that in the morning. I didn't think about that. The cam is a 116lsa but it has a lot of duration and sounds pretty nasty. Eagle Machine built my short block and said I would not have a problem, but that does not mean it is not the problem. I'm going to pull the intake in the morning and put new gaskets on it and check the check valve and connections to the back of the intake. If that does not fix the problem, you are probably on to something. I'll report back with the boost. Thanks very much for your suggestion.

I've had good brakes with 8" vacuum. With engine running, remove hose and make sure it's pulling a vacuum. I always remove the hose, keeping the valve connected, but if you removed both separately at any time, it's possible you have the valve backwards unless you checked it already. Maybe stating the obvious but:
Easy enough to check. Either put suction on one end and then the other and whichever end allows airflow with suction, that's the end that goes to the booster.

You have a pretty big cam, but also a big motor (408 I believe) so you should have enough vacuum
Like I mentioned last night, if the leak is so bad you don't have vacuum, the car would not run worth a crap.
Check with a gauge, and if it is 10+, the problem is elsewhere, and no need to replace gaskets.

8 vacuum now. Thats all shes got. It runs the brakes fine now. The problem was a combination of how tired I was and partial retardation on my part. Thanks for all your help.

I honestly don't know. About the seventh time I put the intake back on, I had vacuum. I thought It was something as dumb as pinching the hose on something, but I couldn't find it. I don't know what I did, but as many hours as I spent on making it run, it had to be something stupid. I did tune today and make decent power. Over spinning the little vortech to 847. Time for a new blower as soon as I can buy something for the wife to divert her attention from my spending habit. VERY impressed with the cam we had ground.

I saw a 12.9 at 7100rpm meth at half.
