Nitrous? So much for the integrity of our Corvettes.
It really is too bad to read that nitrous is being placed into the ultimate muscle car. Yes, I do know it increases a cars performance. But, c'mon guys, leave that stuff to the amateurs.

   Tell that to my rear license plate.
If you are satisfy with your stock HP level then good for you. But the 310rwhp on stock coupe/vert (or 360rwhp on Z06) just doesn't do it for me. Hell, even with 435rwhp on heads&cam is still not enough. And that's why I'm still spraying 150-shot on top it (cam is in there already, and the stage III heads are going in on Monday).
The stage III heads I'm putting in are customed for blower/turbo application. A blower will definitely get installed later on, it's just a matter of time. So that is going to be a supercharged heads&cam+nitrous C5.
Yes, you may go ahead and call me

When it comes to my corvette, I guess that I am an "amateur" (no one pays me to do this stuff), and currently installing my nos kit. It seems great so far. IMHO, the presumed inflection in your typing "amatuer" is a tad harsh. :)

Re: Nitrous? So much for the integrity of our Corvettes. (justchanna)
I bought my Z06 for its raw horsepower; and to compete with other cars with raw horsepower.
I can garrantee that you will feel differently about the stock HP level of the Z06, and where it stands on the foodchain after you get a chance to hang out more with the 650R Viper+200shot, 700hp+ single turbo Supra's or 422ci+200shot Camaro's. If you get a chance to be in Houston, come out to the Saturday meet and one of these guy will be glad to give you ride in it.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being stock. But when you and your stock Z06 get smoked, please don't say it's because the other car has blower, turbo or sprayed you. Have you heard "RUN WHAT YOU BRUNG"? Leave all the excuses at home. Excuses are for LOSERS and RICERS only.
Then again, IT'S ALL RELATIVE though. What you consider fast maybe "PIG SLOW" to me. And yes, I do know that there is always someone faster than you.
If I want to compete with you, I'd start by buying a Honda Prelude V-tech. Then of course, get some 'bottles' for it. That would be my 'Stage I' for getting ready to compete you.
Believe me, I have had my fare share of Import. Do you know what size of shot most of the Prelude guys are spraying? Most of them are spraying 75hp, max. Only the insane ones are going to spray more than that. Just incase you haven't seen a dyno graph of what a sprayed Prelude looks like, here is one. Better yet, this one also has a turbo on it too. It is one of the impressive one I've seen. Now, let me know if you still think it can hang.:D

Tuan have you not heard of 2nd mortgages oter wise known as call A tuner and have a Super Charger installed on you Vette as soon as the stage 3 heads are in the shop loan.Yours Truly Dave S.
PS and you can still have the juice or run CO2 through the system and if you go ATI rig it so the CO2 cools those intercoolers it will probably give you only 55+ hp with no additional engine strain.I've been doing this on imports for years theres nothing finer than a bottle on a tubo eliminates lag till the sweet spot.On a S.C it cols your charge either way as a power adder or as an Ice box.I would set it up with just the intercoolers if you want more go for it,I'm assuming your bottom end is stock and I feel Im conservative in saying 600-625 tops HP @ the CRANKS ok for a stock bottom end but when you approach that spraying the coolers gives you a cold dense charge that still feels cloe to a 125 shot using a 45 hp or 50 of CO2its like taking the car down from a 91Degree day at 5500 ft. above sea level with 94% humidity,to sea level 40 degrees and 22-25% humidity and thats an understatement.Good Luck Dave S.

When I first got my C5 I thought it was the fastest thing in the world  But reality sets in, start running with some of the cars you've mentioned, and of course just getting used to the power. Needless to say, my blower is on it's way along with a few other bolt ons and I hope to be close to 525rwhp in a few weeks. Sad thing is, I'm already wondering how much I can spray on top of that, but have been told that the bottom end and fuel will not handle much more power. I see a 422 in my future :D

Justchanna, I see you are a new member and a first time vette owner I am sure. Your post on integrity blows my mind, any true Vette man has respect for other Vette owners and the mods they perfect. I see you sit on a computer all day and have very little ability to make friends with your social skills. Next time you post spend a little more time understanding what the hell you are talking about. Many of us started out by reading our owners manual many years ago, this would be a good thing for you. I am sure you have a long way to go before you post on the "gas" subject.

Hey David,
The stage III heads I'm putting are customed for blower/turbo application, so the blower is already in the plan. It's just a matter of time.:D

A power adder is a power adder, be it a blower, heads/cam, or N20.
Or in Tuan's case all three.
End of story.

Same here... I would never use a power adder in my car either.

Thanks Tuan. I can only imagine the rush when you are done with the stage III heads. Thanks for the ride invite.
Gentlemen, I trust that someone, at some point, agreed with my point of view - maybe up until you shifted into second with the stuff.
No, I was not smoked away by a C5's. It was a Prelude, then a Jetta. They left me in the dust. Smelly dust. I refuse to alter my precious Z06, just to compete in that arena. Cheezee import + a couple of bottles then: Poof! - you can compete with my Z06!
I know there is so much more one can do with a Z06, especially starting from 405 hp. Obviously. Bolt on's, sprays, blowers. But hey man, my Z06 was born with 405 hp. Yes, my Z06 is stock!! The audacity! Go ahead and laugh. I am not one who has ever needed to add viagra to the basics to create a powerful ride.
None the less, this introduction to Corvette Forum has certainly been a learning experience. I GET IT! I am the one that is pushing my Z06 to get its nose past the import. ITS AWFUL! SO I GET IT. Losing can be a strong motivator. I almost considered getting a chip for my 96 LT4, but then chose to trade it in for the 2002 'upgrade'. Born with 405 hp. That's right, still just 405 hp.
Oh, by the way Big Mouth, this is "Corvette Forum". No need to get personal and even attempt to make random assumptions about a total stranger/ new forum participant's 'ability to make friends' or 'social skills'. Furthmore, I am not a Vette man, I am a vette chic. Bite me.
Now gentlemen, if you'll excuse us, we'll be on our way. :seeya

Re: Nitrous? So much for the integrity of our Corvettes. (justchanna)
Sorry, I think you just need to learn how to drive. I've never seen a Jetta or Prelude in full street trim that could run low 12s/high 11s to beat a stock Z06. Not saying it can't be done, but to happen twice and get smoked? Don't you know those are FWD vehicles? Did you notice any drag radials?
Oh and just curious, but who's "we"? You and your car?

There are very few Corvette purists like yourself here. Most of the NCRS types frequent different forums and have no interest in going as fast as possible. There are many Corvette owners like yourself that prefer stock cars but you in the wrong place to find them.

I only added NOS because I am old and no one expects it. Plus I needed a bit of a rush until I get my cam and headers. Stock is OK, but 500 - 600 HP is where it is at. Don't use nitrous - who cares...
