ok so igot my heads off on my mystery engine it has dart heads so i consider that a plus. I'm installing head studs whats the trick to getting heads on there doesn't seem to be enough room to put heads on.do i have to remove headers completely? any tips???
Couple thoughts here. #1,before you do anything,be 100% sure the head bolt holes are clean and free of debris and especially water/coolant oil or you will ruin the block. #2,Headers ? Yes,most likely you will need to remove the headers to install/torque the lower row of bolts. You may get by with just unbolting collectors and maneuvering them out of the way, each set is different. #3,set head gaskets on,set heads on,install studs through heads,THEN install washers/nuts and torque as needed. I have yet to be able to install the heads ON preinstalled studs IN THE CAR. Make it easy, good luck.

Head studs are pretty straight forward. You just need to move the header out of the way. Clean the holes before you install the studs. There is enough room to put the head on and off over the head studs on a C5. Other cars you might have to pull the studs though.
