Default A&A build help!

Hello fellas, as we all know, warm weather is just around the corner (for some of us less fortunate at least) and it is time to prepare the cars. Currently I have an 02 EB Z06 with an A&A kit on it. V1 Si HD headunit, 3.8 pulley, no meth on 93. The car currently makes 553/463 on 8lbs of boost. Now, I am having a hard time deciding if I want to keep it this way or go down to a 3.6 pulley and add meth. Any advice or input would be helpful and very much appreciated. I know the bottom ends don't like seeing much more than 600, so would this put me in the worry zone? Also, do you think belt slip would be an issue, as I am still on the 6 rib setup. Track numbers and dyno numbers are encouraged. Thanks in advance, Devin

do it and add a cam as well... you could hit the upper 600's easy and you should be ok on a 6 rib if everything is set up properly... if you have the money to upgrade to an 8/10 rib or add a secondary drive that would be even better

Yea, I would love to upgrade to the 8 rib, but it just isn't in the cards for me now. Just wanted to make sure the 6 rib would be able to handle a little smaller pulley, I have heard mixed feelings on it. I appreciate it though. Thanks fellas

You will be just fine above 600 with methanol. I made 670rwhp with the 6 rib. I would highly recommend an 8 rib / direct drive upgrade as soon as possible though. Good luck with it.

If you can't afford for it to break, leave it be, maybe add meth for insurance, but otherwise leave it. Stock motors can break. Anything added to them, while fun, increases your odds. There is no numerical threshold that will cause your motor to break. I've got plenty of cars over 700 and some over 900whp under my direction. One has been racing his for years, as well as commuting to work, running low 9's and not one factory option removed. There are a few other members making that kind of power, beating on their cars for a long time with great success so far and for years as well, but I won't tell anybody to mod their cars in that direction if they can't afford to be wrong. The game isn't for everybody. Just weigh your options and hopefully you've got a good tuner behind you because that's a big part of the recipe.
