Default twin .63??

Will .63 turbine support a 418ci engine??

I have a brand new turbo from my 4 cylinder days that never got used. When I bought it , they said it would make 500hp.

I'm looking to do a twin setup, so I would just buy 1 more.

Let me know thanks

Seems small. Really small if it's a t3 like I assume a 4 cylinder turbo would be

Do you have any more specs on the turbo, i.e., compressor and turbine wheel sizes, t3/t4 housing, etc.

Without additional info, I'm going to initially say that it will spool quickly but run out of steam before 6,000 rpm.

418 ci usually wants at least 0.82 a/r on the turbine side.

I think people seem to have the best luck with 6266 or 6766 and the biggest ar you can get

I don't have any info on the turbo. It was bought many moons ago. Either way, it's a t3/to4e setup.

With a .63 turbine. ---so too small for sure right???

Reason I'm asking , a guy at work with a 4 cylinder wants to buy it.

So I need to sell and buy 2 larger hair dryers that will fit my 418

That A/R is small for the cubes. Not ideal but it'll work. What compressor and turbine wheel sizes?

If you want 800 rwhp or greater, here are a few options for twin turbo:

Precision 6266's

Garrett GTX35R's (make sure it's the X)

UPP 6182R's

These turbos are sized perfectly for starting at 800rw and going to +1200rw.

Ben you and I both know from experience that even a 58mm .63 AR will make north of 800 (well, two of them).

Whats the "X" do?

Gtx is the newest billet version. .63 will work look at the guys running the ttix kit that had 6266 with a .63 housing. OP needs to know the wheel sizes as a t3/4 has a huge range of potential. I think the turbine wheel size makes more difference than the housing to an extent.

Open wastegates, largest dp's possble...probably get you to 800rwhp on two of them(.63)...depending on turbo. It would just lite up QUICK..maybe a little choked out up top but..that depends on where you're shifting at.

The GTX has redesigned compressor and turbine wheels. The map is extended and you get more lb/min than the regular garden variety 35R.

My Turbonetics 58mm turbos had the 0.82 a/r housing and all though they really sparkled at close to 900 rwhp, they were being pushed. It was to the point that I would be concerned about the reliability long term, but nothing lasts forever. Mine made 20,000 miles and were bought used. Now they are going on a TT 5.3 in a Malibu as is.

Spool wasn't an issue. They made full boost by the 30 foot mark without a two step.

He mentioned "no less than 800hp" and to me that means you're on the path to 1000+ but will need new turbos to get there. If the OP wants to throw on two 0.63 a/r turbos and squeak out ~ 800 crank hp, that's perfectly fine.
