I have a 03Z and I am getting ready to wire up my Nitrous Outlet wet kit. What's the biggest hit the stock fuel pump can handle and how do most people activate their nitrous system's WOT switch? Is the digital WOT switch the way to go or is a mechanical switch activated by the gas pedal? I had a 4th Gen F body that I used to spray the hell out of with a TNT wet kit so I am no stranger to the juice but I also had a friend with a Silverado SS grenade his motor when the switch under his pedal stuck.
Thanks for the input. Somebody was telling get the NOS brand WOT/Window switch and that the Nx one has problems. I can't remember who it might have been on here even.
I used a wot switch at my gas pedal. It was cleaner to install versus tapping the tps and doing that learn procedure. Additionally, I did mine long ago so I used the fjo controller and just tapped my rpm signal. I did not want to hack up a bunch of my cars wiring that is why I used a wot switch.
Nitrousoutlet sells a bracket for that already in the kit for the peddle, but I've heard too many horror stories about that messing up and I was told to just get the nos controller to eliminate all possibilities of something not reading right. I know a ton of tuners that won't even mess with ur car if it doesn't have the nos wot/window switch. If u check out the nitrous section over at ls1tech.com they have a ton of information on how set up systems.
Reading TPS is much more accurate than relying on a mechanical switch on a bent bracket. I've watched many miss getting a hit because there bracket bent. If you do the wiring correct there's zero hacking involved, heat shrink & solder & you'll be fine. I don't mind WOT switches on carbed cars because it's pretty easy to setup on a throttle linkage but on a DBW car putting one on a pedal that just takes a beating scares me.
Using a Window Switch or Progressive Controller with built in TPS activation is the best way to go. Not only do you get a very reliable signal, but it can make for a very clean install when done properly. If you're using the car mostly as a street car, I'd recommend the NOS Mini 2-stage Progressive Controller. Not only does it have a built in window switch and TPS activation, but it's progressive functions are very easy to program. It's a very reliable unit with a pretty basic install.
