So the funniest thing: was driving on the Santa Monica freeway yesterday going home around 7:30 pm when I dropped it into 4 to pass a car. Wasn't able to however since the engine suddenly shut off! By the time I realized it was off and not something else, I was slowly coming to a stop in the number 3 lane, where I sat for 30 minutes until a flatbed arrived. A lowered, yellow, supercharged Z06, with EGOTISM plates, broken down on the freeway causing traffic isn't received well by LA commuters.
Although it's a late 2003, it only has 60K on it and I drive it 30 miles, once a week, but I suspect it's the fuel pump. It's got the full A&A kit and, I think, a C6 pump because it's own pump took a dump when the supercharger was being installed and tuned back in December 2010 by Talent Motorsport.
Since then, Andy has upgraded the exhaust to a C6's and retuned it to around 587ish at the wheels (Dyno sheet is in my gallery).
So if it is the pump, what's a good, reliable upgrade that won't cause me any more humiliation or trouble now days?
Any suggestions as to what I should check first before having it towed to a repair shop (fuse, relay, etc.) to make sure it isn't something other than the pump?
Check fuel pressure at the rail that will tell you if it's your pump. You can rent a mechanical gauge free from most stores. Check relays, fuses, etc etc all that stuff is easy and free..You should be able to hear the pump but like I said go rent a tester from teh parts store that way you are not guessing.. If you have to change the pump have fun because it sucks in those. Actually the c6 uses the c5 pump not the other way around since they introduced that funky style of tanss in late 02 or start of 03..

Thanks. I've been reading about how lucky I am to have gotten a model with the worst and most difficult pump location by comparison to the model built 6 months earlier. I'm going to go down now to see if the thing even buzzes.

Jump the fuel pump relay to have the fuel pump continuously run because once the key goes to the on position the pump only primes for about 3 seconds then shuts off. You wont hear it if you try to turn the key then get under teh car. It will be to late but if you really want to know if you have pressure go get a mechanical pump from autozone or wherever. It's free no guesses
