Default Killing time until tune question.

Ok my 383 with sc cam, headers, ported heads, SI V3, A&A kit with 3.6 pulley,, is running pretty strong on a email back and forth data logging tune now that cats are out. I'm going to a 3.4 pulley for actual dyno tune next month, car finaly has a afr gauge it reads between mid 8 to mid 9 (rich) on highway wot. Question is how much stronger will car feel with a smaller pulley and finally being dialed in on dyno?

Got to do something while I wait for it.

Speculate please!

Damn, that is RICH. Way too rich. I've heard of rich knock and bore wash happening when you start getting into the 9's, so I would seriously stay out of WOT until you (or tuner) take some fuel out.

Any guesses on how much more hp when pulley'd down to 3.4 and dialed in on dyno? ....based on current very rich afr readings how much hp is being held back by current temporary "safe" tune? Is car going to feel substantially stronger?

Yes it will feel MUCH stronger at the correct afr. I usually see at least 50+whp when going from mid 10afr to mid 11afr tuning low boost setups.

Last s/c setup I tuned (12psi D1) was making 550ish with an afr under 10.0. Was so rich would barely pull to redline. With 11.5 afr it made 730 with NO other changes.

So even without the smaller pulley it would be much improved? How much is the pulley going to change it?

With a 3.8 pulley on the same head unit as you mine made 620rwhp. When I pullied down to a 3.4 and added meth it dynoed around 700. I doubt this will give you any perspective on what to expect with yours. I think I just wanted to subscribe to this thread ha
