Default Stock LS3 or Built LS1?

I have two options for getting my 2000 C5 back on the road.

New built LS1 fully forged from Thompson Motorsports,
vs a brand new turn key LS3 from GM?

Both engines are about the same price. The LS3 would give me a complete engine to put in something else and new everything for the vette.

What would you put in your C5?
What kind of numbers will the LS3 put down at 10 lbs of boost?

The A&A Super Charger, and other bolts on will be staying on either set up. Currently the car is at 598 hp at the wheels. The new LS1 will get me to about 725 at the wheels. I have no idea what I would get out of the LS3.

I think the LS3 will be no hp gains.

How are you going from 598 to 725 with the forged ls1?

Cam,heads and pulley. Just going off what builder says.
I also never said, bore or stroke. I think it goes up to a 382 instead of 348.

What supercharger? I have a forged 383, headers, ported heads, cam, a&a siv3, with a 3.4 pulley, ls6 intake. And no where near your numbers.
I do have good torque throughout the curve but way lower than the horsepower numbers you are being told. My cam is about 230/236 .61 lift.
It was tuned kinda safe in hot weather with no meth so I'm sure it could be better but I'm only at 550ish hp!

Depending on the blower it's possible. I'm a pretty simple forged 347 D1SC 15psi 715/605 50/50 meth with room on the table to pulley down.

Totally Stock LS1 with SW Headers and maybe an LS6 Intake.
Same guy that tuned it says I can get another 100hp with just a cam. Si-Trim, 3.4 pulley at 10 lbs.

No cats, no mufflers.

Yes that sheets says 588, it pulled 598.
I don't know why he printed that one.

You have the same parts, and a lot more. You should be making lot more power then I am.
I would ask your dyno guy what is holding you back?

Forcedvert:

I will add the old sheet as well. This is completely stock motor with just the Si-Trim blower 3.6 pulley.
Totally stock, 64,000 mile car.

If I had your parts and only 550 hp I would be looking for a new tuner.

I would go with forged option.

My 383 @ only 9 psi is making 681 whp and meth is not tune yet so you should be able to pass the 700whp mark

I think 725 is optimistic. Builder thought 610 with the headers.
I do hope it will pass the 700 mark though.

Hmm It does seem a bit low. You sure you are not 650? What is your compression? Timing? Something isn't adding up.

I previously made 606/531 with a P1SC-1 3.85 Pulley, LT headers, 227/235 blower cam, stock heads, stock ls6 intake, stock bottom etc with no meth.

My compression is part of the issue 9.5/1 I was told after i got motor built i should have gone higher, got some bad advice before build, but im ok where i am. I was told by a&a way before the motor was tuned that my tuner may have trouble getting much over 500 hp with a build like this with the small blower. They were spot on!

317 heads?

Ya.. that would explain some of it.

car also had a pcm problem it would not take last tune, so last tweak was not run on dyno so it was not loaded until after pcm was replaced and my tuner was not local and could not check it. It was also very hot here in fl when dyno was done and car has no meth. I plan on finding a local tuner and getting meth so there is more to be had i think. Ported ls6 heads done by sdpc in Texas. I would rather my motor be safe than push it all out. It's plenty fast!

Makes more sense now. Hope you can get it all ironed out. 550 is fun but 700 is just a bit more fun lol increase that compression a bit and slap on a bigger head unit. You really could try the head unit upgrade by itself first but the additional tuning etc if you change compression after may add up
