You won't need much converter with 1200hp, but the converter needs to be matched to your power band.

Yank is a good converter company, I'd definitely let them do a custom one for 1200hp.

Every converter adjustment I had to make, was to tighten it. And I was only around 850 rwhp. I went from a 10" Coan (billet) to a 9.5" FTI single disk (billet).. And then tightened it 3 times..

Feels good now. Still shows 11% slip in the traps tho..
Yeah, definitely don't mistake the advertised stall speed for how the converter will perform, its all about engine torque, vehicle weight, tire size, gear ratio, etc. My SS3600 flashes to 4000 in first gear.

However, with that being said, to get down the track the fastest you want that converter to allow your engine to operate at peek power all the way down the track. That's going to be above 4000 rpm.

I have a multi disk precision at 3200 and it's plenty loose]

talk to RPM and they should be able to give you some solid advice.

with the turbos, a bit tighter convertor helps load and spool them so I wouldn't go much above 3k if you are thinking 900 and up power, especially for a street sweeper that doesn't see much track use.

it will hook better with the tigher convertor and the 3.42 or even 3.15 gears would work well with a tighter convertor on the street where high HP and traction doesn't go so well together.

make sure you pick the cam and try and get the cam and convertor matched together well. so if you go with a smaller cam, a tighter convertor to me again makes sense.

for a blower or a N/a application the looser convertor would be best, but with the turbos I think the lower end load will pay dividends and not heat up the tranny fluid as much. you don't really need it to flash as much and as pointed out the more HP will make the conv flash above the rated stall.

bottom line, with that much torq you don't need the looser convertor IMHO

RPM does a pretty wicked 4l60 lvl 10 which you should crank into the build.

good luck!
