Cerra Racing Single Turbo Kit Released!

Re: Cerra Racing Single Turbo Kit Released! (Silver TT)
How does a V8 with two exhaust manifolds handle the single turbo configuration? I know there are suck kits out there...Rob Raymer, TurboTechnology, etc....but I haver never known them to be reliable. In fact, I don't know one single turbo kit on a V8 that has ever been reliable. :nonod:
I don't know where you get your information, but I can give a LIST of people with VERY RELIABLE single turbo's on their V8's. I can also give a list of people who have sent us their Incon ballbearing turbos for repair. And those were Twin Turbo kits (TWO manifolds!).
I put 18,000 miles on my stock engine with our turbo kit installed, made literally over 100 1/4 mile passes, and NEVER had any type of turbo or engine problem. On top of that, to this day, nobody has made more fwhp with a turbo kit on an LS1 (twin or single) than we have. So how "sucky" can our kits be?
Lastly, what does it being a V8 have to do with it? Or do you mean the fact that it's not an inline 6 cylinder? If that's the case, then a Buick V6 turbo would also fit into your argument. It uses a single turbo with a crossover pipe also. There don't seem to be any problems with those engines being reliable or fast. So I'm sorry, but I don't know what point you were trying to make.

Re: Cerra Racing Single Turbo Kit Released! (Rob Raymer)
We'll also be releasing a single turbo kit for the C5 soon. It won't "suck" either. It is however different in design than Cerra's kit, but still a single turbo with two manifolds.
Good luck Rob. I've been following your great R&D progress on LS1.com & LS1tech.com. I know many F-body owners who are anxiously waiting for Rob's "Suck kit"

Re: Cerra Racing Single Turbo Kit Released! (Silver TT)
I had a 90 5.0 lx with a single turbo(Turbo technology) that was daily driven for over 30,000 miles with many runs at the track and no problems can't ay the same for the paxton/ati chargers I had on other Stangs

Re: Cerra Racing Single Turbo Kit Released! (SteveL2)
everyone reading this thread should definitely go to Rob Raymers page and read up on the project single turbo they did! something like 534 rearwheel and 630 tq.......on pump gas.......bone stock trans am. That car also ran 11.40@125 with the kit installed on a bone stock motor, if this is any indication of whats going into the c5 kit then its going to be all war for the best booster!

Re: Cerra Racing Single Turbo Kit Released! (mobbin)
I'm bummed :cry, I finally get my SC and these reasonably priced turbos start to show up!
I'm interested to hear more details about the install... How easy is it to put in/remove. It's got to be tight in there. It's hard enough to find room to change a plug on a stock motor, can't imagine what these turbos are like.

Someone on another site mentioned it is possible to use T66 internals inside the '60' series housing.
Is there any benefit to doing so?
Does your kit retain the stock headers?
Can/Should Long Tubes be used?

Wow, this is great. I am really looking forward to hearing more about this. Do you have any plans to get this CA CARB approved?
Does your dealer network include any shops in the CA area?
And what are some good turbo camshafts?

Rob,
"Suck" was a typo - he meant "such" ie. "I know there are such kits out there..." :smash:

My sincere apology. It was absolutely a typo. I didn't even read the thread until just now. I have nothing but respect for your single turbo car and for the new single turbo kit you are building currently.
Regardless of the typo, I still stand corrected for the following reasons:
1. I was not aware of the number of single turbo cars out there running reliably.
2. I did not know the V6 Buick Turbo also used a cross pipe configuration.
3. I was run through the Incon Trubo mudbath and all I ever heard was that the Turbo Tech kit was even more problematic.
So for the above reasons, please accept my apology and good luck with the kit. I can't wait to see some happy F-body and C5/Z06 owners running around with a reliable and affordable turbo setup. :D

Re: Cerra Racing Single Turbo Kit Released! (Cerra Racing)
What happens to the IAT #'s at a sustained WOT run in 4th or 5th gear? Do they go up very much? If so how much? Also, does the Cars engine temps rise too? Thanks in advance. :)

Just food for though....
Thats a H & C ATI setup. Lets just say for comparison the T66 flows the same amount of air as the supercharger @ 8psi. Imagine how much HP the turbo car would put down to the rollers knowing that the turbo will not have a parasatic loss. Anyone think 675rwhp? If the loss is 6% that = 675rwhp. You guys should add an option for an HKS SS BOV. They sound soooo nice, if anyone has seen a supra doing a burnout with one you know what I am talking about.
