Default Going FI Finally! Need some pointers...

So after about 5 years going back and forth...Iam finally pulling the trigger on this....well that is if my compression and leak down tests look good this weekend...Car has 93,XXX on it so I figured I would like to know what shape it is in before throwing a supercharger on it. Especially with a clutch Iam looking at around $9,000 for everything installed and tuned.

I think I understand how to do the compression test but Iam a little unsure about finding TDC when performing the leak down...can someone who has done this give some pointers or if your close by to middle TN and want to aid and assist by all means let me know! I'll buy the beer!

This is so far everything I know: Please if you can answer the few questions I have and provide any tips I would kindly appreciate it.

It's hard to find TDC on these cars since you can't get easily get to the crank bolt. There's a few ways to do it.

Remove flywheel inspection plate and turn the flywheel by hand (remove spark plugs first). Have a buddy let you know when you're at TDC by using a pick in the spark plug hole or bore scope.

I have used a compression tester hose, removed the Schrader valve, taped a balloon on the end and bumped the starter to right when the balloon stops inflating. It make take a few turns, but you'll get it.

thanks but have no idea of anything you said. I haven't read anybody having to do this either. Remove the flywheel inspection plate? Isn't that under the car and can't be accessible unless you remove the entire driveline?

Not trying to be a dick, but maybe you should take the car to a reputable mechanic for this.

No that's why it's an inspection plate.

You have to pull the steering rack to gain access to the crank bolt. It's a huge PITA. How else are you going to turn the engine over other than how I described?

Nah its cool...Going to a tech would be my first choice but hearing its gonna cost $200-$300 or more to do these 2 tests plus they are 3-4weeks out being booked has pushed me to attempting to do it myself. From what I have read, both tests sounded pretty easy to do, with the exception of the the leak down in which you have to find TDC.

If you click on the link I provided...guy on there said simply put in 20 psi and feel for where TBC is. I also have read to put a screwdriver or similar too to feel when TDC is reached. All this while just cranking it over 4-6 seconds. Iam no mechanic nor claim to be one, just going by posts and comments left on the forum.
