Didn't know what to put in the title. I've done boost before and tuned for it as well. My questions are more platform specific. The centrifugal options are plentiful here, but the ones I've driven I haven't really liked (none were Vettes, so I should try that before writing it off). Found a local Kenne Bell but got to reading that they suck in this platform. I've been down the road of high IATs and my trucks do it now. I'm not a fan of that. The Maggie appears to be a little limited in terms of output capacity unless I'm missing something. I don't like the turbo kits I see. Right now the option that appeals most to me is building my own turbo kit. Tons of work, but in the end I'm sure I'd love it. First I need a TIG. I was poking around Garrett's site though and by looking at the efficiency maps I wasn't finding many that wanted to make big power on low boost. I was thinking of a turbo that has 6XX whp as a midpoint. Able to be dialed down for something requiring grip, or dialed up if I'm feeling like testing the limits of the rod bolts. IMO the Kenne Bell would be ideal if it could make 600whp and not blow oven hot air. I really don't give 2 shjts what it runs in the 1/4 mile, that's not my thing. Just wanting to have something faster than a bolt on LS6 and I feel like less than 600whp is a waste of time and effort. Car is an 04 Z06, probably makes 380whp now with the longtubes, intake, and PE fuel trimming.
with a normal ECS or A&A kit that bolts on and costs $5k with almost no fab work you can easily make enough power (>700whp) to spin the tires at 100mph on the freeway and 600whp is a piece of cake. if you just want to fab something than go right ahead but centri kits are proven to make way more power than you're looking for with less work and cheaper.
I've seen that, the UPP kit, and the rear mount kits and none really appeal to me. The Hinson kit puts a screaming hot turbo in close proximity to lots of plastic like the UPP kit. I really like the idea of leaning the radiator and AC forward regardless of whether I do blower, turbo, or nothing. It's tough to argue the simplicity of the proven A&A kits and maybe I need to drive one, but I really don't like how dead they are down at 3000.
So bigger head unit with the restrictor I'm guessing? Know of any users on here I can search for a dyno? I'm off to google but in case I fail. . .
You can still use the base head unit. Just look for dyno graphs with 3.4 and 3.6 pulleys. You will make the same low end power but your topend will be limited.

What didn't you like about the centri cars? They should feel the same as a stock car with way more power delivered linearly and predictably.
What is your goal to do with the car? I've seen some nice heartbeat setups and other decent roots style setups. They won't win a dyno contest but if you like the insta-power feeling then those are amazing choices.
If you go turbo it's for the bragging rights. It'll probably cost 2x as much for the same power. (source: have turbo car in the 1200 range)
No real goals, just want more. It only needs to put a smile on my face. I found a deal on a Kenne Bell that I couldn't pass up. I'll pulley it wherever it wants to be to help control IATs and stick a big reservoir inside the car where it's cool. Car should be in the upper 500s according to my google-fu. Friend has a clutch so I think I'm in business.
Anyone know how far a BAP will go? I'm very unfamiliar with how far the fuel system can go. I got 80# injectors with it so covered there. Ideally I'd like to adapt a flex fuel setup since mine's an 04 but that's not going to happen right away. I know the injectors will cover it but fear a BAP with stock pump might be maxxed out on something like this with premium unleaded?

Being an 04, yes you will have to drop the tank. It's more intimidating than difficult. Just follow a good DIY or set of instructions and the work is very easy.
Trans is coming out for clutch upgrade and TT rebuild anyway. My biggest concern is causing a leak with that damn crossover tube which seems to be such an issue on these late C5s.
