Default Has anyone put a A&A kit on ZO6 no headers no meth base kit

I just bought a 04 Z16 Z with 4000 miles. I've done big builds before. I don't want to deal with Meth the extra noise of headers just want a fun car to drive. Has anyone just put the base kit on, would like to know is there any heat issues. I'm thinking I would make around 450 rwhp with a safe tune. Any advise would be welcome.

Thx

Lee

I've seen it done and as long as you keep boost low you will be fine. 450-500 whp shouldn't damage anything but it may burn through the catalytic converters a bit quicker.

You gotta go for at least 500 rwhp!

Seems pointless to go through the effort and cost of a blower and stop at only 450rwhp. You could easily do 540rwhp+ as is and still be safe with the exception of the clutch.

It would be hard to do without headers safely.

I think it's going to be hard to make 450 without excessively low timing.

I'm just looking for a fun car to drive, seems like everybody is running headers. Whatever it makes I just want a safe tune and very low maintenance No more big builds for me. I'll let everybody know.. .

I did it when I first got my car. I bought an Ecs 1500 kit and ran it that way for like 6 months because I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the car as far as mods go. Car ran fine, the cats didn't like long pulls though. Car made like 530whp on the stock pulley that came with the ecs kit.

Pretty much every car in CA is running blowers with stock manifolds. My car only gained like 20hp from headers.

You don't get noise from headers if you do not upgrade the exhaust, if you want the car to be fun just leave it stock. You need supporting mods for forced induction, period. Heat issues of course what else you expect you are adding 150 rwhp more to that slim radiator. You also need to reinforce the valve train.

My 03 z06 A&A V3 si made 592 rwhp without headers and ran fine no issues. A few years later I added headers

most common cause of failure in a catalytic converter is that it gets clogged with forced induction

Thanks for the replies. It's just a weekend driver, I'm going to give it a try.

My 03Z made 582 rwhp with A&A V3si trim blower kit on 10lbs without meth or headers. I've since added long tubes and haven't had it back on the dyno as of yet. I've ran this way for three years now without any issues. You'll love the blower I wish I had done it sooner.
