Default Shortened radiator fan setup

I’m just trying to research and plan ahead a little bit, current setup is stock radiator/fans, A&A Supercharger setup with the spacers under the rad support

I ordered a 3” cutdown radiator, and would like to remove the spacer under the rad support. I plan to make an aluminum shroud with 2 11” spal fans.

Guess my question is, has anyone done this and will regular profile fans clear the sway bar or do I need the lower cfm, slim fans? I think raising the support up will help with the fan clearance issue also.

I have done exactly that with the larger spals with out any problems with the sway bar and I'm using the larger T1 sway bar,

I going through a build on my car. Blownbluez06 is doing the work and he built me a custom radiator cradle. The cradle stands the radiator straight up. It also is using a cut down radiator. The setup lets a large intake and charge pipe fit with no problem and increases cooling.

no spacers and thick spal fans? Did you have to modify anything with the support back in the factory location?

Silver 408, I’m assuming he had to lower the radiator slightly to get it to clear completely also.

My main concern is with the fans and what ones will clear

You can get the stock fans to work with the short radiator. Pretty easy to take stock cradle apart and move the radiator mount up some to get clearance for everything.

I modified my cradle to stand my cut down Dewitt’s straight up and can clear a 5” intake. I’m using a dual fan set up from Jegs that works great.

Im gonna make this out of 1/8 plate, and wait to cut the fan holes till I get it all installed to make sure it’s going to clear.

The shroud is within 1/4” or less for the radiator so I’m gonna just use some wide foam sealant tape to seal it up

Have you thought of putting a rubber flap or two in there to allow air to pass through when the fans are off?

One main thing I should have pointed out is there there will be 2 fans,I only have one on the paper

Thought about it? Yes

But seeing how 75% or the shroud area will be the fans I shrugged them off. I could put two between the fans in the radius area but I didn’t think it’s necesarry.
What’s your opinion?

I'm kind of in the same boat. I've considered putting a couple in but have taken no steps toward doing so.

I have been running the Dewitts shorter Rad and their shroud/duel spal fan set up for a few years now, works and fits GREAT!

The condensor stuck about 1.25” above the radiator, so I cut off the tabs and welded new ones on to lower it. Keep my fingers crossed it doesn’t leak

Remove it all and wire in a small 12V fan in the cabin lol. Thats what I'm doing.

Decided to ditch the 2pc intake and just make my own. Test fit to see where I need to weld the bungs in for Iat and meth nozzles. Going with 2 #7’s after the intercooler and one #3 before the blower. (Same as what I had before).

Once I get them welded up I’m gonna brush the pipe and send it out for black anodizing

I’m also going to be able to use the A&A top shroud, just trimmed it for the new piping and for the shorter radiator.
