Took Magna'd Vette to track
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=413003
This thread was written by the guy who I let drive my car last night, due to his experience at the track, telling his driving impressions and the times. I'm very happy w/ the Magna and the quality work MTI did on the install and the tuning Jayson did.

Nice numbers -- should be much better with slicks or drag radials.

Re: Took Magna'd Vette to track (VERTVETTE)
I have to agree with vertvette.. You should be well over 500rwhp.. It looks like you picked up 80rwhp from the Magnacharger..

Re: Took Magna'd Vette to track (VERTVETTE)
The Magnuson is not about best peak horsepower so you can say "I dynoed my can and it put out xxx horsepower". It is about usable power, flat continuous torque curve, instant throttle response and good track times with high MPH. I am curious though, what are the 1/4 mile times on the ATI on a basically stock motor. There are some that people have actually got running right? Oh buy the way, much to much emphasis put on intercooler. Would it help?-yup Would it produces even better times if it was intercooled?-yup Are the results great without an intercooler?-yup.
Just my opinion.

Well Nice Numbers! Some people seem to forget that Dyno Numbers aren't a ET Slip! Big difference between the two.

Steve02C5,
Congrats on the numbers. Will you please post a copy of your dyno chart. I keep hearing about high and flat torque curves with the Magna's and how they are better than the ATI curves and I would like to compare your head and cam Magna chart to my ATI P1SC chart (stock motor). I have not been to the track yet, so I can't compare ET's or MPH yet. I plan to go to HRP sometime in November and see what kind of ET's and MPH I can get. I suspect my ET's will not be so great since I will be running on runflats, but I think my MPH will be decent. Since you are in Houston too, maybe we can go at the same time and run head-to-head. :)
Thanks,

Re: Took Magna'd Vette to track (Dave00C5)
I've seen Steve's dyno sheet, the torque curve is remarkably flat. As for the numbers, keep in mind that Steve has an A4.
Here is a dynosheet for a 6-speed with the magnacharger
Anyways, Steve's car is awesome and I hope to follow in his footsteps in the coming months (although I think a Vortech is in my future?)
Lates,
Justin

Re: Took Magna'd Vette to track (R6_C5_ML430)
The comparison dyno numbers between an ATI and a Magnuson were posted about a month ago....The ATI averaged 15-20% more HP and TQ from 4500-6500....this is the range where 1/4 times are made. There is no advantage for the Magnuson in first gear as any 400+rwhp car has to control wheel spin. After the shift into second the revs stay in the range where the ATI really outshines the Magnuson. No one races in the 2000-4000 rpm range, so if your into drag racing, the ATI or Vortec is the way to go.

In CA we will be having a S/C shoot out. It will involve Drag Racing, Road Course Racing & a Top Speed event. I have invited ATI, Magna & Vortech (as well as N/A) car owners to come and prove once and for all which setup works best for each Event. Go to the Pacific Section and see the sticky thread. :)
Get those S/C Mods installed... then join us for a great time!!

I know. I posted that comparison. I wanted to see what difference the heads and cam made on a car with a Magnuson over the whole RPM range.

Make sense :)

Looking at the mods. you have in your sig. you'll probably have traction issue thru 5th gear.

Re: Took Magna'd Vette to track (boblackhardtop)
Your soooo right. I've heard here on the Forum that Nitto is going to make an 18" DR this fall. Hope its at least a 335/35/18.....that would be a 27.23" diameter and gives 141.2 mph on 4th at 6500. I would like a 335/40/18 even better.....would give 148 mph at 6500.
