Vortech Available for 97
On their website, Vortech says that the SC is available now for the 97. It doesn't say that it covers any other years other than 97. So now they have one for the 2002 Z06 and 97. What's the deal? I thought it was tbyrne or Andy that said they were working backwards from the 2002 Z06?
I'm trying to order my Vortech today.
There may or may not be an issue with 99-00's and the placement of the ABS System. Other years are not affected.
I have the Sr. Vortech Tech's name and am supposed to talk with him in about 1 hour. Also need to talk to him about pulley sizing.

Heya.
Looks like the LS6 and LS1's use different head units.
The LS1 uses a V2-SQ and the LS6 a V2-SC trim.
V2-SQ flows 1000-1100cfm
V2-SC flows 900-1000cfm
LS1 vs. LS6 Pulley Sizing (Also affected by different head unit flow)
LS6=34 Tooth Cog @ 6.5psi with V2-SC trim
LS1=30 Tooth Cog @ 8.5psi with V2-SQ trim.
I'm looking at the 28 Tooth 10.5psi Cog, ETA 11/30/02. I should see less with Cam & Exhaust setup. I'll start with the 30 Tooth, then re-tune when available. Better than stock Air Filters will increase boost, better flowing exhaust and/or heads & cam will decrease boost
99-00 will be delayed 2-2.5 weeks for a custom piping change due to the location of the ABS system. ETA 11/15/02.
:)

Hey guys I just back from Andy's and am looking at the manual for the Z06 and C5. They both use the V2SQ units. As Mellow Yellow pointed out the Z06 kit uses a 34-tooth pulley and the C5 kit uses a 30-tooth pulley. I would think the compression difference would make this necessary. Z06 10.5/1 and C5 10/1. I am installing this weekend. :cheers:
It's great to hear that you got your Vortech. My buddy with the big brown truck should be delivering mine this morning. :cheers:
I was poking around on the Vortech web site and noticed that they are running a "Boost Bucks" promotion. It is a $200 rebate if ordered from their web site and a $100 if purchased elsewhere. It is for kits purchased by Oct 31 2002. There is a form on the web site that we can send in for that $100 rebate.

It looks like things might be a little ahead of schedule at Vortech. They were supposed to be working back from 2002 and then taking care of the 2003 kits at some point. I'll give Vortech a call this morning to confirm that they have the '97 version ready to go.

I put up a new post to cover most of the years. The '97 kits should be ready to go the middle to end of November.
Hope this helps,
