What is the best torque converter for a turbo car. Looking to increase launch power. Verter must drive like the stock converter. Only running 510 rwhp. Thank in advance for info.
That is a loaded question. People have different opinions on what the "best" is of any part that exists. You need to talk to a few companies, get a feel for who you like and trust, and have them spec you what you want. Your suspension setup, turbo size, engine size, the way you drive the car and almost every other aspect of the car needs to be considered
1. Instig8r is correct - the only way to truly get the right Stall Converter for your application is to have one built to your requirements.
2. Modern Stall converteres drive just like stock under normal driving and then "stall up" when driving spiritedly.
3. The 3000k stall converter i linked is pretty low stall, especially with your horsepower. The stall speed is relative to your overall power output - more HP = higher stall speed. For instance, on 2 different cars, a 3k stall might stall at 2600 on a car with only 500rwhp and might stall at 4k on a car with 800rwhp.
talk to the supplier and make sure they know it's for a turbo car....not for a blower or NOS setup.... you'll probably like something around 24 - 2800 stall, depending on your rear axle ratio... and a bit loose to allow for some spool up at low rpm to make it feel closer to stock yet give you the performance advantage you're looking for....rear axle ratio plays a big part too....good luck!
