Running a Turbo Tech turbo kit on my 2000 auto vette. Running about 510hp at the rear wheels. What would it take to out run the C7 and C8. Just curious before I bite off more than I can chew
Can't see you having much problem with a C8 either. That car will weigh considerably more with less horsepower. The 0-60 numbers indicate that it has plenty of traction off the line, so you'll definitely have a game of catch up. That aside, I'd wager you would easily beat it.
You will be faster than a C7 Stingray. But, Not faster than a C7 Z06. I have a C7 Z06. Stock they are about 550whp 3500 lbs
Gearing is amazing on my C7 Z06 7-Speed Manual. 2nd gear maxes out at 95mph

What about a 550 rwhp c5 with 3.42 gears A4? on Drag radials?

The biggest advantages the newer cars have is traction and the ability to continuously put down the power they have. Newer suspension designs (and wider tires) have better launch characteristics, combined with a FAR more advanced traction control system that actually works to the limit of the tires all the time. The newer automatics with twice as many gears as yours also don't fall off anywhere near as much on each shift. The shifts also execute much fast than the older 4 speeds, or what is possible in any manual transmission as well. This combination has them enjoying more "area under the curve" for the same available peak RWHP, and thus gives much better acceleration than what you'd get out of the same power in an older car.

I agree with everything you said. But you are talking stock cars and
the OP is talking mod cars.I have a mod C5 that
will beat all stock vettes to date. Mod C5 will have all
the updated equip. So if the Op wants to beat a stock
modern vette he will need time, effort and money.
Easy right?

time, effort, and money mean nothing without skill & practice
