I just installed a A&A blower kit, 243 heads with 660 dual beehives, BTL Jam Cam, Racetronix fuel pump w/hot wire kit, MSD boost-a-pump and a monster twin disc. The car already base long tubes, high flow cats and a Ti axel back.
Got it on the dyno on Friday.
Turns out the pulley that I installed was not the correct one. My mistake, not the tuner's. I assumed it was a 3.8" but it was a 3.6". I also did the Proform Valve Covers and I didn't consider the restriction in venting, my bad too.
Now bare with me, when it comes to all that fancy tuning talk, I'm not real experienced with it and I'm learning a lot now. He said it had entirely too much knock, not enough fuel, and way too much crank pressure. (pretty sure I got all that right).
So back to the garage she comes. My plans on trying to get it dialed in is to install a catch can (Ordered a Mighty Mouse kit) and install the correct 3.8" pulley. With lower boost and proper venting, I'm thinking I should be OK. He did suggest I run Meth, but I really don't want to. I'm more into keeping it reliable and usable without having to worry about introducing more variables. Is this a good plan so far? Does it sound like it will recitfy my knock, pressure, and insufficient fuel issues?
The baseline was way more than I expected. It hit 590 HP (Mustang Dyno) and he let off just under 6k rpm cause the boost was creeping up to 13. Although 600+ would be awesome, it's not what i want.....at least right now.
I absolutely appreciate everyone's advice and help with this.
Can you test the BAP and confirm it's coming on? I presume you are still running the stock fuel rails and regulator setup? That is a major issue from a fuel pressure dropping perspective (even with enough pump). all opinion here, but anything over 500-550 at the wheels and I think the stock regulator position really starts creating havoc on the pressure at the rail. There are a few ways to get around this, presuming you have a 99-early 03 - the easiest in my opinion is to convert to a 97/98 corvette fuel filter and run a return line from the stock filter location/fitting up to the rails with aftermarket rails and regulator. This could be done with stock 97/8 fuel rail easily as well, but finding them is difficult these days.
The catch can is a good idea for sure.
No idea on the knock - not a tuner I presume you have good gas in there and not Wawa?

I dont understand the knock situation. All he has to do is pull timing. If that don't help then maybe your knock sensors need to be adjusted. To sensitive. Just something to look into.
Knock sensors can get false knock also. Like if the headers/xpipe are rattling against something. Meth is not really hard to deal with. You can even run 50/50 water meth. If you do add meth, you can be pretty sure that it will stop the knocking and if you are getting knock, it is false knock. I have meth on my car and it lasts a good bit. The tuner can also set up your tune to be aggressive and pull out timing if the car were seeing knock. So if you run out of meth/water and the knock starts, the tune will pull timing and you will be safe.
Are you dead set on keeping the high flow cats? You will likely lower the boost a little by freeing up the exhaust some. You shouldnt be seeing a lot of knock at your power level imo with a good tank of 93 but I'm not sure what timing is being commanded. Meth is great insurance especially if the tune is adjusted to compensate if it were to fail. It will help with iats and knock prevention. Who is your tuner? My guy is out of NJ as well

Who do you use? You can shoot me a PM if you don't wanna mention it here.
