On top of what's said, a S/C has the potential to add as much as a "spicey-spec" heads and cam setup or more on pump fuel. One has to also realize that a S/C offers much more potential output with race gas and race gas calibration...sometimes doubling the gains over just S/C and pump gas setup alone. The centrifugal can give possibly greater gains at higher rpms (but generally intercooling and high boost is needed to provide a generous area under the torque curve). The roots for given boost and sizing is typically less efficient but that doesn't necessarily spell lower performance given its wide powerband; and generally the wide area under the torque curve explains why performance can be so good despite lower peak output, no intercooling, and boost levels.
