I'm in the process of installing my NX Nitrous system. I have noticed that some of you have removed or don't use the window switches. I have one but was questioning the use now. My car's an Auto so maybe I don't need it?? One less electical thing the better, but not at the cost of my engine. I'm also using a progressive controller. Thanx, you all have been a great help in building this car over the past year!!
you dont need a window switch with an automatic. You only need it with a manual because it prevents the nitrous from coming on if you over rev. When you bounce your car off the rev limiter, the motor will cut fuel to prevent damage. If you are spraying when the motor cuts fuel you will go lean BIG TIME. Also if you race, just keep the car in drive. Manaully shifting an automatic will cost you time. The tranny can do it faster than you.
I recommend a window switch.. Yes the auto will shift for you, but if you spin it throws off your shift points due to the fact the the 4L60E shifts according to MPH not RPM's... Chances are you may hit the Rev limiter..
Also.. if your tranny starts to slip and your sprayin.. you will Hit the REV limiter..
When dealing with N2O.. Its better to be safe than sorry...
A window switch is more important in a manuel car but is also important in an automatic as well. The window switch is not only designed when to turn the nitrous off but its just as important not to turn it on too early. If you stuff your foot in the gas at 1500 rpm and forgot you had the nitrous activated, bad things might happen :) :)
