Only issje is fitting the ss intake under our hoods.

And even if the fast were not best and just in the ballpark I'd still go there vs msd due to size and also appearance, as well as aftermarket compatible rails and tb placement.

Next time I have spare cash I think Im going to begin collecting LS pieces for future projects.

Agreed. The TBSS is a nice budget friendly intake option for those running high rise hoods anyway. I'm still running my LS6 intake with ported 78mm TB.

I've been accumulating take off LS performance parts over the years. 243 heads, varraram, blackwing, vortex air bridge, my old 228r cam, c5 Z06 sways and end links etc.. Just waiting for me to buy another one to molest. Which is pretty unlikely after 3 but always possible.

How much boost are you thinking? I was running 10 and 12psi on mine for years without issue. If you go higher than "street" boost then yeah it seems common sense to stick to the mono block LS6 design but I'd not see a reason to turn away from the fast if that's what interested you. Ls6 setup is cheaper anyway of course.

Well i wasnt planning on going over 10 or 12lbs,but i have decided on twin turbo and figure it will take more than that to reach 1000rwhp.

you are right. I pulled 800 at the tire with 18 psi on a TTiX kit on an ls6 engine with afr 225 heads and ls6

I'm curious how efficient the ls6 intake is on boost up to around 7200 or so rpms

I'm boosting a 4.8 and know I'll have to rev higher, but hoping I can have a broad powerband that peaks up around 7200 with the ttix kit

on the ls6, e 2.5 down pipes the power peaked at about 6500 but felt a bit strained over 6k

I now have 3" downpipes and exh and hoping to do better

Keep it simple and ignore long posts full of bullshit

What intake do you currently have ? You're mentioning intakes there some that are cathedral, and some only in square port.

What rpm range do you expect to operate in ? The short runner intakes are all for high rpm, and will serve you no purpose below 6500-7000rpm

And check out Richard Holdeners Youtube channel, he has tests of most intakes at some point, and their behaviours are there for all to see.

And failures or problems with aftermarket plastic intakes are rare. I wouldn't worry about that

Hey Stevie,thanks for the reply.
Currently i have no intake, this is a ground up build. As far as rpm range i am figuring 6500-6800 peak.I have watched alot of Richards videos lol, thats mostly what turned me onto the fast, but then he also says for boost it isnt needed.i want to do this right the first time.

Thanks Jim

Not needed no.....but as all his tests show, it does offer gains throughout the rpm range.

I would say if turbo, this can be helpful, more power/torque down low, will also mean quicker spool. If blower, I'd say not much point.

However, pretty sure genuine LS6 intakes fetch decent money these days, so a step up to a FAST is not unreasonable, rather than paying say $3-400 for a used OEM intake. And although the Dorman LS6 is supposed to be quite good....not sure how many reports are out there on their quality and robustness in a boosted application.

If you already had the LS6, then 100% it would be sensible to just use it. As you have nothing, and have to buy whatever.....the FAST can start to make more sense

A quick google might even question if the Dorman is still available ?

I doubt you'd make 900 to the wheels even with a pair of good 67mm turbos at only 10-12psi boost. It will need more boost ( depending on motor size of course )

But in that case, you'll need all the help you can, so a good intake makes sense.

The motor is:
408 stroker
-15cc 2618 weisco pistons
Heads are 317s with texas speed prc cnc stage 2.5,2.02/1.57 valves, milled down to 68cc chambers.
Texas speed cam,.233/.239 .600/.600
K1 rods
Texas speed crank.
I had the low boost in mind cus of the rumors about the fast cracking but am not against going higher if need be,i will just have to regap rings.

Thanks Jim

Heard of it. Never seen it. While the chances are reported to be greater with any two-piece manifold vs a mono piece such as LS1 / LS6, understand that two-piece also includes LS2 and LS3 manifolds which plenty of people put boost in front of. Unless you're planning to add more than one atmosphere of boost I don't think I'd be highly worried.

The pump makes the power, not the intake or displacement. A 500hp turbo makes 500hp max on a 2L 3L 5L 7L engine, it doesn't matter what engine or intake you used, the max output of the pump is what caps power potential. You don't upgrade cam or intake or displacement any of that to make more power, you upgrade the pump.
